Engineering courses provide the detailed knowledge of the basic scientific and mathematical principles for the planning, designing, analysis and development of technology and software systems.

Although the salary trend can be different according to a particular speicialisation but generally an engineer (in any field) can get an average starting salary of around INR 4.9 LPA to INR 5.4 LPA. The highest Engineering salary is between INR 7.3 LPA and INR 8.1 LPA for a senior role.

India produces approximately one million engineering graduates annually from over 3,500 institutions, making it one of the largest engineering education systems in the world. AICTE says India is one of the largest producers of Engineering graduates in the world and Computer Science Engineering is the most employable branch among all specialisations.

Q:   What does Engineering exactly mean?
A:

Engineering is the application of Science and mathematics for making properties of matter and the sources of energy in nature useful to people. It deals with the designing and application of machines across factories and industries and production of finished goods for human use. It is one of the most fundamental domains which is important for the development of any nation. All the essential services to humankind is dependent on engineering such as Medicine, Security, Telecommunications, Transportation, Housing and Food. Therefore, engineering is a promising field to establish one's career.

Q:   Which is better after Class 12, a BSc or a BTech?
A:

Obtaining a BSc degree makes a candidate have a general background in some of the several branches of sciences including physics, chemistry, biology, mathematics and computer science. These degrees are usually provided for disciplines like Applied Science, Life Science, Physical Science and Computing Science.

On the other hand, a BTech degree takes one into the specific undertaking of technology and engineering. This community of discourse comprises of areas such as Chemical Computer Science Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Chemical Engineering.

BTech degrees prepares students to become professionals by imparting knowledge and specialising in certain areas required for the job markets in the various sectors. If on the other hand you are interested in fields under the umbrella of technology or engineering then a BTech would be better for you. However, if you are more interested in a wider scientific education a BSc would be more in tune with what you wanted.

Q:   What are the main entrance exams for BTech programs?
A:

Q:   How much time is required for BTech entrance exam preparation?
A:

B Tech full form is Bachelor of Technology. The time needed to prepare for the BTech entrance exam cannot be said with any certainty, but it is better to start as early as possible so that you have enough time to go through the entire exam syllabus and can revise each section to increase your chances of getting an excellent score. You must start at least 6 to 8 months before the final exam date because the competition is too high, leading to skyrocketing cut-offs for admission.

If we look at the market demand, no doubt there is huge demand for BTech (Full Form: Bachelor of Technology) graduates among top recruiters who are constantly looking for skilled and knowledgeable students with fresh ideas to enhance their business growth and profitability.

Having said that, a few previous-year employment reports published by the Business Standard and Times of India suggest that students found it a struggle to land a high-paying job after completing BTech because of a lack of industry-specific skills and knowledge and cut-throat competition between Lacs of engineering students hunting for a job.

Hence, it is very important for students to focus on enhancing their skill set according to industrial demands and technological advancements, stay updated regarding all industry trends, build good networks and, most importantly, take up internships to gain experience and stand out in front of the employer.

Q:   Can I switch my specialisation during the M.Tech course?
A:

It depends on your college. Some may give you a chance to switch your specialisation during the course.

But in most cases, it generally becomes difficult to make that switch, as MTech is a 2-year specialised programme dealing with advanced concepts and practical training planned out in a certain manner and course flow, which makes it difficult for colleges to allow that transition.

Q:   What are the different job profiles offered to an M.Tech graduate?
A:

After completing MTech, a candidate can easily find a job in research and development companies, manufacturing firms, and IT companies as Project Manager, Research Associate, and Senior Engineers. Some of the candidates also prefer academic jobs such as teaching in a college or becoming a professor. Candidates can also work as Lead Scientist, Lead Engineer and also work as consultants in popular organisations.

Q:   Are internships a mandatory part of the M.Tech coursework?
A:

Well, yes. Internships are surely an important part of the M.Tech coursework pattern at most of the popular colleges, mostly in the final year, which helps you brush up on your skills and learn some new ones, along with the opportunity to explore more about the practical side of your chosen field.

Some colleges may give more importance to research project work over internships, which depends on the specific academic institution and their individual curriculum guidelines. So, you can go to the college websites to check their M.Tech coursework pattern for your preferred specialization.

A:

Most of the colleges do have that provision where you can apply for MTech admission even if your graduation final results are pending, but the admission provided would be provisional. The admission application form usually has that option for students with pending results.

After your exam results are out, you need to present the marksheet as proof of you meeting the eligibility criteria without any backlogs to secure your seat permanently. Rest; you can go to the college websites to confirm if they allow admission with pending result status or not.

Q:   What is BTech full form? What is the duration of the course?
A:

Hello aspirant!

Bachelor of Technology (B Tech full form) is an undergraduate engineering degree awarded to you after the course completion. The duration of B.Tech course is four years. You need to have PCM subjects in Class 12 with minimum 55-75% aggregate marks that may vary on the basis of the institution. Some fields offer an exception where you do not necessarily need Mathematics as a core subject, it is less common though.

Candidates who pursue BTech in Lateral Entry can complete this course in three years. Lateral Entry BTech is offered to candidates after they have completed Diploma course in a relevant engineering field after which they can enter into B.Tech course straight into second year. So, if you are a diploma-holder, you can go for lateral entry option as well.

Best wishes!

Q:   What is the B Tech course all about?
A:

BTech full form is Bachelor of Technology. BTech courses majorly cover the basic principles & applications of engineering disciplines. The BTech syllabus is designed in such a way so as to help you follow your preferred career path in various engineering fields. The vast domains of BTech courses offer a diverse range of specializations. You can also pursue MTech/M.E/MBA degrees after completing BTech courses. You can even go for short-term Diploma courses in Cyber Security and Ethical Hacking, Red Hat Certified Engineer, Robotics, Nanotechnology, Software Testing etc.

From IT firms, and banks to automobile companies, production houses and research and development initiatives, skilled technical engineers are needed in every work domain and industry.

Q:   What are the basic Engineering courses requirements for admission?
A:

The basic BTech courses requirements differ on the basis of the course level, specialisation and the college offering the course. For BTech courses you are generally expected to have at least 50 to 60% marks in Class 12 board exams and for MTech at least 55 to 60% marks in your graduation and entrance exam scores.

Top colleges like the IITs and NITs give BTech admission on the basis of valid entrance exam scores while several private colleges also consider students based on merit and/or GD and PI rounds.

For Engineering Diploma courses, you should have passed Class 10 with at least 50% marks, with Science and Math subjects. Interestingly, you can also get lateral entry admission to the BTech course directly in the 2nd year after completing a 3-year engineering diploma. For a PhD in Engineering, you must have completed PG in a relevant field with at least 55% marks and cleared valid entrance tests.

Q:   What is the general BTech qualification?
A:

For BTech admission, you should complete your Class 12th with PCM subjects and have at least 50-75% marks in your final board exams, which may differ from college to college. Further, you will have to get excellent marks in entrance exams like JEE Main, JEE Advanced, or other state/college-level exams to get admission to a decent BTech college in India.
