CDS Result 2024: The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) released the CDS 1 2023 result for OTA on January 24, 2024. A total of 347 candidates qualified for the CDS 1 2023 exam. The result was released in the form of a PDF that comprises the name and roll number of the candidates who qualified for the CDS exam. 

will announce the result for the CDS 1 2024 exam after conducting the exam on April 21, 2024. The notification for the CDS 1 exam was released on December 20, 2023. On the other hand, the CDS OTA result is yet to be announced by the UPSC on the official website.

UPSC CDS is one of the most sought-after career options after graduation for aspirants who want to join the defence sector-Army, Navy and Air Force. After clearing the written exam and SSB interview, candidates will secure admission to the prestigious Indian Military Academy (IMA), Indian Naval Academy (INA), Air Force Academy, and Officers' Training Academy (OTA).  To get admission to the Indian Armed Forces academies, the candidates have to secure the CDS cut off marks which the UPSC releases after analysing the marks secured by the candidates. The candidates can check their expected scores by analysing the CDS answer key released by the coaching institutes. However, the final answer key is released by the UPSC after the recruitment of the candidates in the academy.

CDS Result 2024

The CDS 1 2024 result will be announced on the official website of UPSC. However, the candidates can check the CDS 1 result for the year 2023 through the PDF given below. The CDS 1 final result was announced on October 27, 2023.

CDS 2 result 2023 for the written exam was announced on the official website in PDF format. The candidature of all candidates who have qualified for the written exam was treated as provisional. They are required to submit the original certificates in support of their age, educational qualification, etc. CDS 2 2023 exam was conducted on September 3, 2023. Based on the combined performance in the written exam and SSB interview, candidates will be offered admission for the courses commencing at Indian Miltary Academy, Dehradun, Air Force Academy, Hyderabad, Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala in January as well as Officers Training Academy, Chennai courses starting in April every year.

Q:   When the CDS 1 2023 result was announced?

The Union Public Service Commission UPSC released the Combined Defence Services CDS result for the exam CDS 1 exam taken April 16, 2023 on May 4, 2023. The CDS 1 exam was taken to recruit 341 candidates into different Indian Armed Forces Academies that are Air Force Academy (AFA), Indian Military Academy (IMA), Indian Naval Academy (INA) and Officers Training Academy (OTA). CDS Marksheet 2024

The marks obtained by the qualified candidates are displayed after the declaration of the final result and CDS final answer key. The scorecard includes the candidate’s roll number, date of birth, name, total marks obtained in the written exam and SSB Interview, and final total marks.

However, keeping with the decision of the Government of India (Department of Personnel & Training) regarding the display of scores of candidates who appeared for the SSB Interview but did not qualify, the commission releases the same which remains valid for one year. The details include the candidate’s name, father’s/husband’s name, date of birth, category, gender, educational qualification, total marks, etc.

Q:   What is the difference between CDS result and SSB interview?

A:
CDSE (Combined Defence Services Examination) is a written exam conducted by UPSC for the recruitment to the IMA, INA, AFA, and OTA. The written exam is followed by an interview by the Service Selection Board (SSB). The SSB interview is a five day long personality and intelligence assessment test conducted by the SSB for candidates who have qualified in the written exam. The SSB interview is conducted in two stages and includes various tests such as psychological tests, group tasks, Personal Interview and outdoor activities. The main objective of the SSB interview is to assess the suitability of the candidate for a career in a defence forces. In summary, CDS result refers to the outcome of the written exam, while the SSB interview is the second stage of the selection process for the candidates who have qualified in the written exam. The SSB interview is a comprehensive assessment of candidate's personality, intelligence and suitability for career in the defence forces.
 

Q:   What are the psychological tests in the SSB interview?

A:
The psychological tests in the SSB interview are designed to assess the candidate's personality, attitude, and mental abilities. The tests include: a) TAT (Thematic Perception Test): The TAT is a projective test where the candidate is shown a series of pictures and is asked to write a story based on each picture. The stories are then analysed to assess the candidate's personality traits such as leadership, initiative, motivation, and social skills. B) Word Association Test (What): In the What, the candidate is shown a series of words, one at a time, and is asked to write the first thought that comes to mind in response to each word. The responses to each word. The responses are then analysed to assess the personality traits such as creativity, emotional stability, and thinking patterns.
 

CDS Cut off 2024

For selection to the IMA, INA, AFA and OTA, candidates need to qualify for the minimum qualifying marks separately in the written exam and SSB Interview prescribed by the examination authority. Candidates need to secure at least 20 per cent in each subject. Candidates securing the CDS cut off in the written exam are called for the SSB Interview.

Q:   Do I need to secure minimum qualifying marks in every subject in order to qualify for CDS exam?

A:
Yes, you need to secure the minimum qualifying marks in every subject in order to qualify for the CDS exam. The qualifying marks are determined by the UPSC which conducts the CDS exam. For the written exam, the qualifying marks are different for each subject and are announced by the UPSC along with the cut-off for the CDS exam. The candidates who fail to secure the minimum qualifying marks in any subject will not be considered for the next stage of the selection process. In addition to the qualifying marks in the written exam, candidates must also meet the eligibility criteria related to age, educational qualification and physical standards to be considered for selection. Meeting the minimum qualifying marks in the written exam does not guarantee selection for the next stage of the selection process, which is the SSB interview. The final selection is based on the candidate's performance in the written exam and SSB interview, as well as medical fitness and the criteria specified by the respective services.
 

Q:   Can I apply for CDS exam if I have not qualified for the CDS exam first time?

A:
The candidates can take the CDS exam even if they have not qualified for the CDS exam in the first attempt though the candidates have to fulfil the eligibility criteria to take the exam. The eligibility criteria for the CDS exam has been given below for the candidates: a) The candidates must be a graduate to take the CDS exam b) The candidates must fulfil the age criteria to take the exam. However, the age limit is decided by the UPSC and it changes every year. The candidates must go through the CDS notification to know the age limit for the CDS exam.

CDS Result: Score Calculation Process

  • For the correct answer in each section of the test, candidates score one mark
  • For incorrect response, 1/3 marks are deducted
  • In case candidates mark more than one option in the test that will be treated as the wrong answer
  • The total score is calculated based on the number of correct and incorrect answers

CDS Public Disclosure of Scores

Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) discloses the marks and other details of non-recommended candidates. The marks are released as per the willingness of candidates. CDS marks are available in PDF form and comprise details such as name, father’s name, date of birth, community, gender, educational qualifications, total marks, complete address, and email ID. The scores and other details of non-qualified under the disclosure scheme are released out of 600 marks for IMA, INA, and AFA and 400 marks for OTA.

CDS Result: Preparation of Merit List

The merit list is prepared in the following manner:

  • UPSC prepares a list of candidates who get the minimum qualifying marks in the written exam decided by the commission
  • Candidates declared successful in the written exam are called for an intelligence and personality test
  • Candidates need to secure separate qualifying marks in the written exam and SSB Interview
  • The final merit list is prepared based on the total marks secured in the written exam and SSB Interview
  • The final selection is done based on their merit subjected to medical fitness and the number of vacancies

Q:   What are the exam dates for CDS 2024 exam?

A:

The Union Public Service Commission released the exam calendar for the year 2024 on May 10, 2023. According to the UPSC CDS calendar the CDS 1 application form and the notification was released on December 20. 2023 and continued till January 9, 2024. The CDS 1 exam will be conducted on April 21, 2024. On the other hand the CDS 2 exam application and notification will be released on May 15, 2024. The application form will remain active till June 4, 2024. However, the exam for the CDS 2 2024 will be conducted on September 1, 2024.

The candidates must be aware that these dates are released by UPSC through exam calendar. There are slight chances that the exam dates get changed due to any circumstance. However, the candidates must prepare for the CDS exams according to these exam dates.

Q:   In how many stages SSB interview for CDS exam is conducted?

A:
The SSB (Services Selection Board) interview for the CDS (Combined Defence Services) exam is conducted in two stages: Stage 1: The first stage of the SSB interview consists of Officer Intelligence Rating (OIR) Tests and Picture Perception and Description Test (PPDT). The OIR tests are conducted to assess the candidate's verbal and non-verbal intelligence, while the PPDT is a test of the candidate's ability to perceive and describe a given picture. Candidates who clear the Stage 1 are selected for Stage 2. Stage 2: The second stage of the SSB interview consists of a series of tests, including Psychological Tests, Group Testing Officers (GTO) Tasks, and Personal Interview . The psychological tests include tests such as Thematic Perception Test (TAT), Word Association Test (What), and Situation Reaction Test (SRT). The GTO tasks include group discussion, group planning exercise, and outdoor group tasks. The Personal Interview is conducted by a board of officers to assess the candidate's personality and suitability for the respective defense service. The SSB interview is conducted over a period of five days, and each test carries a certain weightage in the final selection process. Candidates are required to perform well in all the tests to increase their chances of selection. Therefore, candidates who clear the CDS written exam should prepare well for the SSB interview and perform their best in all the stages of the interview to increase their chances of selection for admission to the respective defense academies.
 

Q:   What is the SSB in CDS, and AFCAT exam?

A:
Both the Air Force Common Admission Test and the combined defense services are conducted to select suitable candidates for training in the academies for the post of commissioned officer in the Indian Armed Forces. While the complete AFCAT procedure is conducted by the Air Force and the CDS exam is conducted by UPSC The SSB for both exams is conducted by respective SSB boards. Selected students go through the SSB interview, and those who are recommended by the Services Selection Board undergo a medical examination. Only students declared medically fit are issued joining letters, subject to their rank in the final merit list calculated on the basis of the aggregate mark in written and SSB interviews.
