Overview

UGC NET Answer Key 2026: The National Testing Agency (NTA) will announce the provisional answer key first for the UGC NET 2026 June session exam after few days of the commencement of the examination. It will be released on the official website at ugcnet.nta.nic.in. Along with the answer key, the authority will also release the question paper and recorded responses. The authority will also open a answer key challenge window for a limited time duration. Candidates in case of any discrepancy can raise objections. After analysing by the subject matter expert, final answer key and UGC NET result will be released.

How to Download UGC NET Answer Key 2026?

The answer key of UGC NET exam will be released after the few days of the conduction of an exam. The provisional answer key will be released on the official website at ugcnet.nta.nic.in. The authority will also open the UGC NET answer key challenge window on the official portal for the June session. The answer key challenge window dates will also be announced via official notice along with the last date for fee payment.

Candidates can check the correct answers for all the questions across 85 subjects. Candidates can follow the methods as mentioned below to check and download the UGC NET 2026 provisional answer key for the June session:

  • Visit  at ugcnet.nta.nic.in
  • Click on the answer key link available for the exam
  • Click on any one of the login links: through the application number and password and through application number and date of birth.
  • Enter the following details: Application number, Date of birth or password and Security pin as shown on the screen.

  • Download it, response sheet, and question paper

How to Calculate UGC NET Score based on Answer Key?

The UGC NET provisional answer key will be released along with the questions and marked responses. Once released, candidates are advised to check all answers in the key carefully to have the correct estimation of the UGC NET score. For the same, candidates should go through the UGC NET exam pattern thoroughly. Candidates can follow the below-mentioned methods to calculate their scores correctly through the UGC NET answer key:

  • Add two marks for each correct answer in the exam

If candidates find any discrepancies, they can submit their objections by paying a non-refundable fee of INR 200 per question. Aspirants are allowed to raise objections against the responses of the Provisional Answer Key only. Challenges submitted without the processing fee or via any mode other than online will not be considered. The methods to challenge the UGC NET provisional answer key are given below.

  • Click on the link available for the answer key.
  • Enter login credentials.
  • Sign In with credentials.
  • Click on the Challenge Answer Key link.
  • Select the correct answer option ID for the question ID for which the challenge needs to be made.
  • Click on the 'Save Your Claims' button.
  • Upload the supporting documents in a single PDF file to support your claim.
  • Click on the ‘Save Your Claims & Pay Fee’ button.
  • Pay INR 200 per question in the online mode.

All candidates who are not satisfied with the answer(s) in the key can challenge it in the prescribed format on the official website of the exam. However, candidates have to pay non-refundable INR 200 per question in online mode via Debit Card/ Credit Card/ Net Banking/ UPI.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) will release the UGC NET 2026 cutoff for the June session along with the declaration of the result. It will be declared on the official portal at ugcnet.nta.nic.in. No. Candidates are required to appear in both UGC NET Paper 1 and Paper 2 to qualify for the exam. Candidates need to pass both exams separately to be considered for the position. Qualifying marks category-wise are mentioned below:

For General or Unreserved category: 40% aggregate marks in both the papers taken together

For PWD/SC/ST/OBC Non-creamy layer and Transgenders: 35% aggregate marks in both the papers taken together.

Candidates can submit their UGC NET application form in an online. No other method is there to fill the form. Without it, candidates will not be able to sit in the examination.

Q:   What is the age limit for applying to the UGC NET exam?

There is no upper age limit to apply for the Assistant Professor positions. But for the Junior Research Fellowship (JRF), the maximum age limit is 30 years as of June 1 of the exam year. There is also an ahe relaxation provided to the candidates from reserved categories including OBC, SC and ST
