WBJEE 2026: West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board (WBJEEB) conducts WBJEE as an annual examination for BTech admissions. The eligible candidates are offered admissions into the participating Government and Self-financing institutes of the state. All admissions will be done based on WBJEE scores. However, upto 10% of the approved seats in the Self-Financed colleges will be available for JEE Main qualified candidates.

WBJEE 2026 exam date will be announced soon. The authorities will conduct WBJEE as a pen-and-paper-based at various exam centres.The online WBJEE 2026 application form will be released at wbjeeb.nic.in/wbjee. Required details have to be filled out and submitted in the application form before the final date, which will be announced soon. Registered candidates will have to bring their WBJEE 2026 admit card to the exam centre. The authorities are expected to release the WBJEE exam pattern and syllabus soon. What is WBJEE?

West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination, also known as WBJEE is conducted as a state level exam by WBJEEB authorities. WBJEE is held annually to select candidates for admission into undergraduate courses offered at state universities, government colleges and self-financing engineering & technical institutions. For admission, candidates have to qualify entrance examination. JEE Main qualified candidates who meet basic eligibility can apply for admission through WBJEE counselling.

How is WBJEE exam conducted?

WBJEE is conducted as an offline test. During exam, candidates have to answer questions in OMR sheet provided by authorities. Candidates have to attempt all 155 questions from Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. Overall, questions will be from 11th and 12th standard syllabus. To be eligible for admission, candidates have to qualify WBJEE with valid scores.

Previous Year's WBJEE Analysis

According to previous year's WBJEE exam analysis, the paper was overall moderate to tough. Out of all sections, Mathematics was the toughest, while Physics was easy to moderate. Chemistry was the easiest section out of all sections. Students found Mathematics paper tough since questions were lenghty and needed calculation.

Q:   Does Jadavpur University accept WBJEE scores for admission?
A: 

Jadavpur University accepts WBJEE scores for admissions into the BTech courses. However, the 12th standard qualifying exam eligibility criteria is minimum 60% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (45% for reserved category). The students should also have minimum 60% in Mathematics and a pass mark in English.

Q:   Are JEE Main scores accepted for WBJEE admissions?

Students with valid JEE Main scores can apply for admissions through WBJEE counselling. However, these students will be eligible for allotment only in 10% approved seats offered by self financing colleges and institutes participating in state level counselling.

Marking Scheme

Category I - Each correct answer will be awarded one mark. An incorrect response will yield a loss of ¼ mark. For any combination of responses with more than one option, the said answer will be treated as incorrect and will yield -1/4 (25% negative) marks.

Category II - Only one option is correct, the correct response yields two marks. An incorrect response will yield -1/2 (25% negative) marks. For any combination of responses with more than one option, the said answer will be treated as incorrect and will yield a -1/2 (25% negative) mark.

Category III - One or more options may be correct. Correct responses will be given 2 (two) marks. There is no negative marking.

WBJEE 2026 Application Process: Correction Facility

Registered candidates can use online WBJEE 2026 application form correction facility. Through this facility, candidates can edit/correct their details that they submitted in application from. However, they cannot edit their basic information such as name, parents' names, gender, domicile and more. Candidates should be careful during registration while submitting their basic details. Once corrections are submitted, they cannot be edited again.

Q:   Which documents have to be uploaded in the WBJEE application form?
A: 

While filling WBJEE application form, students will have to upload their photograph and signature. Documents have to be scanned and uploaded correctly. If required documents are not uploaded, then application form cannot be submitted.

Q:   I made a mistake in my WBJEE application form. What should I do?
A: 

The WBJEE application correction facility will be open for all registered candidates. The online facility can be used to edit/correct the details submitted in the application form. However, the students will not be able to edit all information. Since the correction facility is a one-time facility, the students are advised to be careful while making the corrections.

Q:   Is the WBJEE application form available offline?

WBJEE application form will not be released offline. Students will have to fill and submit application form online. Offline forms will not be available. Print out of application form does not have to be submitted to authorities.

WBJEE Eligibility Criteria 2026: Qualifications, Age, Domicile Requirements

Official WBJEE 2026 eligibility criteria will be announced soon. Candidates should check eligibility criteria before registering for entrance examination. Candidates who do not meet eligibility norms will not be considered for admission into the participating institutes of state. Criteria might vary for different courses and at institute level. 

Eligibility criteria for appearing in WBJEE 2026

  • Candidate must be an Indian citizen

Age restriction

  • Candidate must be at least 17 years of age as of admission year. There is no upper age limit for appearing in exam.
  • However, for admission to Marine Engineering Course, lower age limit is 17 years as of December 31, 2026, and upper age limit is 25 years as of December 31, 2026.

WBJEE 2026 Eligibility Criteria for B.Tech Admissions

  • Candidates should have passed Class 12 or equivalent with Physics and Mathematics along with any one of listed below subjects as compulsory subjects with individual pass marks (in both theory and practical wherever applicable) in all three subjects in regular class mode. 
    • Chemistry
    • Biotechnology
    • Biology
    • Computer Science
    • Computer Application
    • Technical Vocational Subject
  • Must have secured a minimum of 45 per cent marks (40 per cent in the case of candidates belonging to reserved categories such as SC, ST, OBC-A, OBC-B, and PwD) in the above three subjects taken together.
  • Candidates should have qualified in English in the Class 12 exam with at least 30 per cent marks.
  • The Board of Qualifying Examination must be recognised by Central Government or State Government concerned.

WBJEE 2026 counselling will be held online. Official dates will be announced after results are declared. Qualified candidates have to participate in counselling for admission. During WBJEE counselling, candidates have to log in with required details and submit their preferred courses and colleges. They should submit as many choices as they can to have higher chance of preferred allotment. WBJEE seat allotment is announced onilne. Admission will be done based on rank and preferences. Once candidates are allotted, they have to confirm admission before last date.

Q:   When will WBJEE counselling start?

WBJEE 2026 counselling dates have not been announced yet. The qualified candidates will have to participate in the two rounds of counselling to be eligible for admissions. WBJEE 2026 counselling registration will be open online. Seat allotment result will be declared for all participating candidates.

Q:   Who are eligible for the second round of WBJEE counselling?

The second round of WBJEE counselling is held to upgrade the registered candidates or freshly allot the ones who were not allotted in the first round. Only these candidates will be able to participate in the second counselling round, since fresh registrations will not be accepted.

Q:   How can I check my WBJEE seat allotment result?
A: 

WBJEE seat allotment result is declared online. To check allotment result, students have to select their type of registration and log in using their roll number and password. Students will not be informed about their allotment in any other mode.

There are many private colleges that participate in WBJEE counselling. Q:   What is the purpose of WBJEE?
A: 

WBJEE is conducted annually to select eligible students for admission. The students are allotted into the BTech and BPharm Government and Self-financing institutes of the state of West Bengal. For admissions into these institutes, WBJEE scores are accepted, with a small percentage of seats reserved for JEE Main candidates.

Q:   Are self-financing institutes included in WBJEE counselling?
A: 

Yes, there a self-financing institutes included in the WBJEE counselling process. In the self-financing institutes, the 10% approved seats will be open for JEE Main qualified candidates. These students do not require WBJEE scores for admission.

Q:   Will the authorities announce the WBJEE toppers?
A: 

WBJEEB will announce WBJEE 2026 toppers. Highest scoring students will be given top ranks in WBJEE 2026. In previous year, Aniruddha Chakrabarti secured first rank in WBJEE, followed by Samyajyoti Biswas and Dishaanth Basu in second and third rank. List of the top 10 rankers in WBJEE 2026 will be released by authorities.

Q:   What after WBJEE seat allotment?
A: 

After the seats are allotted, students will have to pay seat acceptance fee of INR 5000 online to download allotment letter. Next, they will have to report to their respective college for document verification and tuition fee payment.

Q:   Which documents have to be presented at the WBJEE exam centre?
A: 

At WBJEE exam centre, students will have to bring a print out of their admit card and one original valid identity proof. If students do not have these documents with them at centre, then they will not be allowed to enter and attempt examination.

Q:   How can I select my preferred exam centres for WBJEE?
A: 

Students can choose their exam centres while filling the WBJEE application form. During the application process, the students will have to choose three exam cities according to their preference. The selection has to be done carefully as it will be considered for centre allotment.

Q:   How can I mark my answers in the WBJEE OMR sheet?
A: 

At exam centre, students will have to mark their answers in WBJEE OMR sheet. The sheet will be provided by the authorities. Out of given options, correct answer has to be marked in OMR sheet, by darkening appropriate circle/bubble.

Q:   Do I need to prepare the full WBJEE syllabus for the exam?
A: 

Students are advised to study and prepare the full WBJEE syllabus for the exam, to have a good chance of scoring well. Since the question paper will be prepared using the WBJEE syllabus, the students can expect any topic or concept to be used for the questions. However, the students can identity important topics and give them more attention and focus.

Q:   How is the final WBJEE answer key prepared?
A: 

WBJEE final answer key will be prepared after objections against the provisional key are checked. To prepare result, final WBJEE answer key will be used. The authorities will not accept any objections against final key.

Q:   Will the WBJEE result be sent through post or email?
A: 

WBJEE result will not be sent through post or email. Students will have to log in with their roll number and password to check and download WBJEE result. They can download result in form of a rank card.

Q:   What is the WBJEE cutoff?
A: 

WBJEE cutoff consists of opening and closing ranks that are required for admission. Cutoff varies as per course, college and category selected by students for admission. Round wise cutoff is released online during WBJEE seat allotment.

Q:   Where can I access the previous year WBJEE cutoffs?
A: 

Candidates can access the previous years' WBJEE cutoff in this page. The round-wise WBJEE cutoff is available for the reference of the candidates. Through the previous year's cutoff, the candidates can check the opening and closing ranks that have to be secured for higher chances of admissions into their preferred course and college. Admissions are also conducted on the basis of JEE Main and NATA scores.

WBJEE 2026 seat allotment dates have not been announced yet. Students will have to log in to check their allotment status and to download the allocation letter for the admission process. Separate allotment results will be announced for the different rounds of counselling.

The WBJEE seat acceptance fee is INR 5000 (refundable). To download the seat allotment letter, the students will have to pay the fee online, i.e., through net banking/credit card/debit card. If the fee is not paid, then they students will not be able to move forward with the admission confirmation process.
