Overview

The Union Public Service Commission will release the UPSC CSE (IAS) main 2025 e-admission certificate for the candidates eligible to appear in the UPSC IAS interviews. The Commission conducted the UPSC CSE (IAS) main exam (written) 2025 in the last week of August. UPSC CSE (IAS) interviews will start in December 2025. The Commission will release the UPSC IAS interview schedule 2025 on its official website - upsc.gov.in. 

The UPSC IAS Prelims admit card 2026 will be released in the first week of May 2026. The Commission will conduct the UPSC CSE (IAS) prelims exam on May 24, 2026

How to download the UPSC Admit Card 2024?

Candidates can download their UPSC admit card by following the steps mentioned below:

  • Visit at http://www.upsc.gov.in/.
  • Click on the Admit Card link available on the home page of the portal.
  • Read the guidelines given on the page and click on the Yes button.
  • Select any of the given two options – By Registration ID or By Roll Number.
  • Enter registration ID and date of birth (if ‘By Registration ID’ is selected) or roll number and date of birth (if ‘By Roll Number’ is selected).
  • Click on the Submit button.
  • Download the UPSC admit card and take two printouts for the exam day.

The candidates are intimated through the message on the phone that the UPSC e-admit card is available for download. The UPSC admit card is released online only and it is also called as the UPSC e-admit card as per the UPSC terminology. The UPSC admit card is released separately for all the stages of the exam. Every stage of the exam has a distinct UPSC admit card and the candidates will get the successive stage's admit card only if they qualify for the previous stage of the UPSC exam.

How to download UPSC Admit Card if Registration ID is not available?

  • Candidates can follow the steps mentioned below to recover/ re-generate their registration ID:
  • Visit the official website of UPSC (http://www.upsc.gov.in/).
  • Click on the Admit Card link available on the Home page of the website.
  • Read the instructions given on the page and click on the Yes button.
  • Click on the link, “Forgot RID’.

Enter the following details:   

  • Name.
  • Father’s name.
  • Mother’s name.
  • Date of birth.
  • Captcha code as shown on the screen.
  • Click on Submit.

On clicking the button, a registration ID will be re-generated.

Details mentioned on the UPSC Admit Card

  • Name of Candidate.
  • Roll Number of the candidate.
  • Photo identity proof number.
  • Father’s Name.
  • Mother’s Name.
  • Centre.
  • Venue of Exam.
  • Time Table.

The photo of the candidate is also printed on the right corner of the UPSC admit card. UPSC generate a copy of the image uploaded at the time of the UPSC application process.

In case of a Problem in Downloading the UPSC Admit Card

In case, candidates are not able to download their admit card, they should contact the commission immediately. The official website informs, “Information in this regard can also be obtained from the Facilitation Counter located in the commission’s office either in person or over phone Nos. 011-23381125/011- 23385271/ 011-23098543.

Documents required with UPSC admit card

UPSC admit card is a legal tender, but it requires an additional document for proving of identity of the candidate. UPSC admit card only provides the right to appear in the UPSC exam but who will appear needs to the established through the additional document. Candidates required identity proof issued by government authorities for this purpose. This Id proof is essential for appearing in the UPSC exam. Following Id proofs can be shown in the UPSC exam along with the admit card:   

  1. Adhaar card    
  2. Passport    
  3. PAN Card    
  4. Driving Licence    
  5. Voter Id card (EPIC Card)

What to do in case of a Discrepancy in UPSC Admit Card?

The candidates should check all the details mentioned in the UPSC admit card. In case of any discrepancy in the personal detail, the candidates should immediately inform the exam controller of UPSC. The personal details mentioned in the admit card is taken from the UPSC application form. The candidate should do the needful formalities in case of any discrepancy because the details mentioned in the UPSC application will form the official record in the Commission. Any discrepancy in the official details and the details mentioned in the identity or educational certificated can lead to the cancellation of the candidature. The candidates should contact the following designated authority to make the corrections in the UPSC admit card.

No, the UPSC admit card is not sent by post. Candidates are required to download their UPSC admit card from the official website of the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC).
