CSAB and DASA 2025 Counselling: The Ministry of Education, Government of India, has entrusted the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Rourkela with the responsibility of coordinating the Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB) 2025 for the academic year 2025–26. In this role, NIT Rourkela will facilitate the admission process for Indian nationals to undergraduate programs offered by 31 NITs, 1 IIEST, 26 IIITs, 3 Schools of Planning and Architecture (SPAs), and 36 other Government Funded Technical Institutes (GFTIs) under the 'NIT+ System.'

Apart from this, the Ministry of Education has entrusted NIT Rourkela with the responsibility of coordinating the Direct Admission of Students Abroad (DASA) 2025, facilitating undergraduate admissions for foreign nationals across institutes under the NIT+ System. NIT Rourkela has also announced that the CSAB-NEUT rounds for candidates from the North-Eastern states and select Union Territories will commence in June 2025, as part of AICTE’s reservation scheme.

NIT Rourkela to Lead NIT+ System; IIT Kanpur to Oversee IIT System Admissions

NIT Rourkela and IIT Kanpur will jointly coordinate the 2025 edition of the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA), with NIT Rourkela overseeing the NIT+ System and IIT Kanpur leading the IIT System. The JoSAA 2025 admission process is set to begin in the first week of June 2025, featuring six rounds of seat allocation. Aspiring candidates are encouraged to regularly visit: josaa.nic.in and csab.nic.in for official updates and detailed information.

CSAB-Special Rounds for Seat Allocation

As in previous years, CSAB will conduct the CSAB-Special rounds to fill vacant seats remaining after the completion of all JoSAA 2025 rounds. For 2025, the CSAB-Special process will comprise three rounds. Additionally, CSAB will coordinate a Supernumerary Round specifically for students from Union Territories including Andaman & Nicobar, Lakshadweep, Daman & Diu, and Dadra & Nagar Haveli in select NITs.

In his message to the aspirants, Prof. K. Umamaheshwar Rao, Director, NIT Rourkela, and Chairperson, CSAB & DASA 2025, said, “CSAB 2025 is designed to offer a seamless, transparent, and inclusive seat allocation process for JEE (Main) qualified candidates across the nation. Simultaneously, DASA 2025 underscores our continued commitment to welcoming international students to India’s leading technical institutions. With strong digital systems, multilingual assistance, and dedicated accessibility initiatives, we are focused on ensuring a smooth and student-centric admission experience for all aspirants, domestic and international alike.”

Q:   Who can participate in JoSAA Counselling?
A:
All the candidates who appeared in JEE Main or JEE Advanced can participate in the JoSAA counselling and seat allotment process. The allotment of seats in NITs, IIITs and other GFTIs will be based on the All India Rank of candidates secured in JEE Main, whereas in IITs, the allotment will be through JEE Advanced rank.
JoSAA Counselling is the centralised counselling process for admission to the participating institutes in India, which include the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), National Institutes of Technology (NITs), Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs), and other government-funded technical institutes (GFTIs).
Q:   What is the fee to participate in JEE Main Counselling?
A:
There is no fees for JoSAA counselling registration. Candidates can register for the counselling and participate in the counselling without any fees. However, candidates need to pay the seat confirmation fees once the seat is allotted to them. The fees for seat confirmation would vary for various categories and has to be paid online.

An estimated 14.5 lakh JEE (Main) qualified candidates are expected to compete for around 40,000 seats across participating institutes, with 20% of the seats reserved for female candidates. The entire seat allocation process including registration, choice filling, seat allotment, and document verification will be conducted entirely online.

DASA 2025 Registration and Process

The DASA seat allotment will be based on JEE (Main) ranks and candidate preferences, with three rounds of seat allocation. Detailed information will be available on the official DASA website: www.dasanit.org. In line with government norms, seat allocation across all schemes for undergraduate admissions to the NIT+ System will be determined by candidates' ranks in JEE (Main) 2025.

Candidate Support and Accessibility

A multi-lingual helpdesk has been set up at the CSAB 2025 headquarters at NIT Rourkela to assist candidates throughout the seat allocation process. The helpdesk will provide support in Assamese, Bengali, English, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Tamil, and Telugu. Additionally, 53 Help Centers, with at least one in each State/UT, have been established to further assist candidates. A dedicated helpdesk at NIT Rourkela will specifically support Divyang (PwD) aspirants, and help documents in an immersive reader format will soon be available to improve accessibility for PwD candidates.
