This includes admissions to IITs, National Institutes of Technology (NITs), Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs), and Government Funded Technical Institutes (GFTIs). Admission to the IITs will be based on JEE Advaced AIR and the admisison to NITs, IIITs and GFTIs will be based on JEE Main ranks.

Key Highlights of JoSAA Counselling 2025:

  • Registration and Choice Filling Starts (Expected): June 03, 2025
  • The counselling process will likely involve multiple rounds of seat allotment.
  • Candidates need to register on the JoSAA portal (josaa.nic.in) and fill in their preferred choices of institutes and courses.
  • For IIT admissions, only candidates who qualify in JEE Advanced 2025 are eligible.
  • For NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs, admissions are based on JEE Main 2025 ranks.

Eligibility Criteria for JoSAA Counselling:

Candidates must have qualified in either JEE Main 2025 or JEE Advanced 2025. They must have passed their Class 12 (or equivalent) examination. For IITs, NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs, candidates need to meet 75% minimum percentage criteria in Class 12 or be within the top 20 percentile of their respective boards.

Q: Β  Who can participate in JoSAA Counselling?
A:
All the candidates who appeared in JEE Main or JEE Advanced can participate in the JoSAA counselling and seat allotment process. The allotment of seats in NITs, IIITs and other GFTIs will be based on the All India Rank of candidates secured in JEE Main, whereas in IITs, the allotment will be through JEE Advanced rank.
JoSAA Counselling is the centralised counselling process for admission to the participating institutes in India, which include the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), National Institutes of Technology (NITs), Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs), and other government-funded technical institutes (GFTIs).
Q: Β  Can I participate in JEE Main counselling next round if I do not accept the seat allotted to me in previous rounds?
A:

The process of JEE Main counselling and seat allotment consists of several processes. Once a seat is allotted to a candidate, he/she has the option of Accept and Freeze, Accept and Float and Slide. If a candidate is satisfied with the allotted seat and selects the first option, he/she cannot participate in the next round counselling. If the candidate is not satisfied with the allotted seat, he/she can select the second or third option through which he/she can participate in the next round counselling with the current seat.

Q: Β  What is the fee to participate in JEE Main Counselling?
A:
There is no fees for JoSAA counselling registration. Candidates can register for the counselling and participate in the counselling without any fees. However, candidates need to pay the seat confirmation fees once the seat is allotted to them. The fees for seat confirmation would vary for various categories and has to be paid online.

Candidates are advised to keep track of the official JoSAA website (josaa.nic.in) for the detailed counselling schedule, eligibility criteria, and step-by-step instructions for registration and choice filling.
