SBI PO Vacancy 2026: The State Bank of India announce a total of 1500 vacancies for Probationary Officer (PO) posts. Out of the total, 1446 are regular vacancies and 54 are backlog vacancies. The vacancies were released along with the SBI PO Notification 2026 (CRPD/PO/2026-27/09). The application dates were June 18 to July 8, 2026. Candidates are appointed on the basis of the number of vacancies in SBI Probationary Officer exam and also the performance of the candidates in the Mains and Interview and Group Exercises.

SBI PO 2026 Training Process

The training process of newly recruited SBI PO is given below:

  • After joining to the post of SBI PO, candidates are on probation for two years
  • During the probation, candidates are subject to continuous assessment, as per bank's extant policy
  • Those candidates who qualify in the assessment as per standards determined by the bank from time to time, will be confirmed in the service of the bank in Junior Management Grade Scale-I (JMGS-I)
  • During training, candidates are provided the basic knowledge through online course

A: 

SBI PO eligibility is fixed by the examination authority. Graduation is required to apply for the exam. Candidates cannot appear after completing Class 12. The age for the exam is  21 and 30 years. 

Q:   What is the selection process of SBI PO exam?
A: 

The selection process of SBI PO comprises prelims exam, Mains exam, psychometric test, group exercises & interview. Final selection is done based on the Mains exam and group exercises and interview. The marks obtained in the prelims exam are not counted for the final merit. The prelims exam is only to screen candidates for the Mains exam. SBI PO prelims exam is conducted for 100 marks. The test paper carries questions from English Language, Reasoning and Quantitative Aptitude. The total marks allotted to the prelims exam are 100. The mains exam carries both subjective and objective type questions. Total marks allotted to the mains exam are 250. The Group Exercises and Interview carries 50 marks.

The basic SBI PO salary is INR Rs 48,480/- (with 4 advance increments). The pay scale for Junior Management Grade Scale I is INR 48480-2000/7-62480-2340/2-67160-2680/7-85920. The authority released the SBI PO recruitment notification for the Probationary Officer (PO) post. The selection of the candidates will be based on their performance in the prelims, mains and interview. It is crucial for a candidate to check the details including educational qualification, experience, how to apply, fee and more. The recruitment process for SBI Probationary Officers consists of 3 stages:

  1. Phase 1 – Preliminary Examination (Objective, Online)
  2. Phase 2 – Main Examination (Objective + Descriptive, Online)

The age limit for applying to SBI PO was between 21 and 30 years. Relaxation in the upper age limit is provided to candidates belonging to reserved category.The educational qualification prescribed for SBI PO is Graduation. Final year Graduation candidates can apply provisionally provided they need to submit the pass Certificate of degree exam at the time of interview. Candidates holding Integrated Dual Degree (IDD) can also apply. Candidates possessing qualifications such as Medical, Engineering, Chartered Accountant, Cost Accountant can also apply.There are also restrictions in the number of attempts. The number of attempts for General category is 4, General (PwD) category is 7, OBC is 7, OBC (PwD) is 7. There is no restriction for SC/ST (PwD). Candidates with a record of default in repayment of loans/ credit card dues / or against whose name adverse reports of CIBIL or other external agencies are available are not eligible for appointment.
