
The Staff Selection Commission released the SSC Stenographer notification on June 6, 2025 on its Central Portal - ssc.gov.in. The Commission notified the exam dates, eligibility, vacancies, syllabus, exam pattern, selection process and other rules and regulations that governed the conduct of exam. The SSC Stenographer applications were also activated with the release of notification.
The canddiates must refer to the instructions given in the notification before filling the applications. The last date to apply online for the SSC Stenographer exam was June 26, 2025. SSC Stenographer Notification 2025: How to Apply?
SSC Stenographer application form can be filled online only from the official website of SSC. The application fee is INR 100, Women, SC, ST, PWD, Ex-Servicemen candidates are exempted from fee payment. The fee can be paid using BHIM UPI, Net Banking, or by using Visa, Mastercard, Maestro, RuPay Credit or Debit card, or in cash. The process of filling online application form consists of two parts.

SSC Stenographer Notification: Syllabus
The subject-wise topics prescribed under SSC Stenographer syllabus is given below.
General Intelligence & Reasoning: Analogies, Similarities, and Differences, Space Visualization, Problem Solving, Analysis, Judgment, Decision Making, Visual Memory, Discriminating Observation, Relationship Concepts, Arithmetical Reasoning, Verbal and Figure Classification, Arithmetical Number Series, Non-Verbal series etc.
General Awareness: Sports, History, Culture, Geography, Economic scene, General Polity including Indian Constitution, and Scientific Research etc.
English Language & Comprehension: Grammar, Sentence Structure, Synonyms, Antonyms, and its correct usage, Vocabulary, etc.
SSC Stenographer Vacancy
SSC Stenographer vacancy was announced along with the notification. A total of 261 vacancies were announced for the exam. The vacancies are announced category-wise and post-wise. Selection of candidates is done based on merit.

The selection process of SSC Stenographer comprises CBT and skill Test in Stenography. The CBT comprises three sections, General Intelligence & Reasoning, General Awareness, and English Language and Comprehension. The total marks for the test are 200. Candidates are given one dictation for 10 minutes in English or Hindi. Candidates need to type the dictation at the speed of 100 words per minute for the post of Stenographer Grade C and 80 w.p.m for the post of Grade D.
The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) conducts the SSC Stenographer Exam annually to select candidates for Grade C and D Stenographer positions. The selection process comprises CBT and Skill Test. The notification is released every year by SSC.

The post of SSC Stenographer falls under the Central Government. Candidates for Stenographer Grade C can expect basic salary of INR 14,500 while SSC Stenographer Grade D can expect a basic salary of INR 7500.
The process to fill the SSC Stenographer application form cmprises-Register with SSC by entering the tequired details, login to fill the detailed application form, pay the fees and submit the form. Candidates are not required to send the hard copy of the application form.
The complete selection process of SSC Stenographer is explained below:
Release of application form: SSC Stenographer application form is released online. The application fee is INR 100, Women and Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), Persons with disability (PwD) and Ex-servicemen (ESM) candidates are exempted from fee payment.
Issue of admit card: SSC Stenographer admit card is released online on the respective regional websites of the commission. Candidates can access their admit cards by logging with registration ID/roll number/candidate’s name and password.
Computer-Based Test: This is the first stage of SSC Stenographer Grade C & D. The computer-based test is conducted for all candidates who successfully register for the exam. The exam comprises three sections, General Intelligence & Reasoning, General Awareness, and English Language and Comprehension. The total marks for the test are 200.
Declaration of result: SSC Stenographer result is declared online for different stages of exams. The result is made available in PDF format. It displays the roll numbers of qualified candidates. Along with the result, SSC Stenographer cut off marks for various posts and categories are also released.
Skill Test in Stenography: This stage is conducted for the shortlisted candidates of the computer-based test. Candidates are given one dictation for 10 minutes in English or Hindi. Candidates need to type the dictation at the speed of 100 words per minute for the post of Stenographer Grade C and 80 w.p.m for the post of Grade D.
