SSC CGL Recruitment 2026: The Staff Selection Commission is expected to release the SSC Combined Graduate Level notification in March-April 2026. The Commission released the SSC Exam Calendar 2026-27 and notified the tentative dates for the notification and exam. The candidates should note that the Commission did not mention the exact dates in the calendar. The SSC CGL 2026 recruitment will start with the release of SSC CGL notification. The recruitment process start with the release of notification and application and end with the release of final result and letter of recommendation. 

Along with the notification, the Graduate level form will be available. The Commission will release the SSC CGL application form at ssc.gov.in under the candidate's login. The SSC CGL recruitment will have two stages only.

  • Tier 1 exam
  • Tier 2 exam

The candidates should note that the candidates are required to breach their SSC CGL cutoff of each stage to clear it.  The document verification will be conducted by the intended department.

The Staff Selection Commission conduct the SSC Combined Graduate Level exam every year to recruit the candidates for the Group B and Group C posts. The candidates should note that the SSC CGL 2025 recruitment is going on and it will be completed by May 2026.

Q:   How many tiers are there in SSC CGL Exam under the new exam pattern?

The Commission reduced the number of Tiers in the exam from 4 to 2 under new exam pattern. The Commission reduced the number of tiers to expedite the exam process because of the Central Government Mandate to increase recruitment in the Government. The SSC CGL exam is conducted to recruit candidates for the following posts:

  • Group ‘B’ Gazetted
  • Group ‘B’ Non-Gazetted
  • Group ‘C’
Q:   When will SSC CGL exam dates (of the candidate) be released?

The Staff Selection Commission released the SSC CGL 2025 exam dates (Revised) of the candidates through its application status/city slip. The Commission released the SSC CGL 2025 application status on its official website - ssc.gov.in under the candidate's login. The candidates were required to check their exam dates by logging with their SSC OTR. The candidates should note that the SSC CGL admit card 2025 was released four days before the exam date of the candidate.

The SSC CGL 2025 exam was conducted in September.

The Staff Selection Commission will release the official SSC CGL 2026 notification tentatively in April 2026. The online applications will also start in April.

SSC CGL Application 2025

Firstly, candidates need to fill out the SSC CGL application form on the official website of the Commission (ssc.nic.in). Candidates can fill out the SSC online form in two parts – registration and application. However, candidates who are already registered on the official website do not need to fill the registration form again. SSC CGL 2025 application fee was INR 100.

SSC CGL Application Status

SSC regional websites release the application status of the candidates to inform the acceptance or rejection of the SSC CGL application. The candidates need to check the application status to know their exam date.

SSC CGL Admit Card

SSC CGL admit card is released for each stage of the exam. Registered candidates can download the SSC CGL admit card from the official regional websites of the Commission. Candidates can download the admit card by entering the required login credentials in their registered account.

SSC CGL Tier 1 exam

SSC CGL tier-I is an online exam that contains objective-type multiple-choice questions (MCQs). It may be noted that going forward as the National Recruitment Agency (NRA) is set up, the SSC CGL Tier-I exam will be scrapped and NRA Common Eligibility Test (NRA CET) will be conducted in its place.

Q:   Can I give SSC CGL exam in any steam after 12th complete.
A: 
You cannot apply after 12th as it is of graduation level. You can apply for SSC CGL (combined graduate level) exam when you are graduate or apppearing in final year but before applying make sure that your result must be out. Otherwise at the time of final selection there might be a chance of questioning when you read the notification you will be come to know about this. But in short prepare for the exam as early as possible you can apply for other exams as well like SSC CHSL MS and many more. So prepare hard be, passionate about what you want to do and have back up plan, do not be rely on one thing as competition is very high.
Q:   Which posts are notified in SSC CGL notification?

SSC CGL recruitment notification is released for about 34 Group-B and C posts available in different ministries, departments and organisations of the Government of India. The Staff Selection Commission releases the official notification and mentions the post-list separately under the candidate's information. Some of the best posts in the SSC CGL exam are Assistant Account Officer (AAO), Income Tax Inspector (IT) GST Inspector. 

This year, the Income Tax Inspector post was re-classified as Group B post.

No. The Tier 1 marks for the SSC CGL are not used in the preparation of the final merit list. The SSC CGL Tier 1 exam is qualifying in nature. Candidates are shortlisted for Tier 2 exam. However, the final selection and ranking is based on the marks obtained in the SSC CGL Tier 2 exam.
