CAT 2022 Topper Interview: With a 99.93 percentile, Parul Arora is one of the top scorers of CAT 2022. Hailing from Bhatinda, Punjab, Garg completed her BTech in Computer Science from NIT Jalandhar in 2020. While she is currently working as a Senior Analyst in Accenture, Parul is aiming to pave her way in the management field by targeting top b-schools in India such as IIM Ahmedabad, IIM Bangalore, IIM Calcutta and more. In her exclusive interview with Shiksha, CAT 2022 topper Parul Arora shares the preparation strategy along with a few tips and tricks that helped her crack India’s largest management entrance exam, CAT. Parul: I am very much satisfied with my CAT result. I was expecting 99+ plus but 99.93 is a cherry on the cake for sure.

Shiksha: Was this your first attempt at CAT?

Parul: Yes, this was my first attempt in CAT.

Shiksha: When did you start preparing for the CAT exam? What was your overall prep strategy?

Parul: I started preparing for CAT in April. My preparation strategy for CAT was to clear my basic concepts in all topics and then maximum practice.

Shiksha: Please share with us your section-wise strategy.

Parul: Varc- Reading novels is the key and past year practice.

DILR- Solving any puzzles that come in way and again past year questions help a lot.

QUANT- Clear Basic concepts and then eventually practice questions starting from the basic to the advance level.

Shiksha: Which books did you refer to for CAT preparation?

Parul: For quant, I referred to Arun Sharma in parallel to the tests provided by Sir. For Varc and DILR, the content provided by Sony Goyal sir was sufficient.

Shiksha: How many mock tests did you attempt and how important is a mock test series?

Parul: I had appeared for 30 plus mocks, mock series is an imp part in the preparation for CAT.

Shiksha: Did you join any coaching institute? How does the coaching institute help in CAT preparation?

Parul: I had the chance to join MissionCAT (Sony Goyal Sir). It was the most imp decision that shaped my CAT preparation and helped me achieve the 99.93 CAT percentile today. His personal mentorship has helped me sail through this journey.

Shiksha: What was your exam day strategy?

Parul: Exam day strategy was to stay calm and to solve the maximum number of questions correctly in the given time.

Shiksha: Which IIMs /Institutes are you targeting?

Parul: I am targeting IIM Ahmedabad, IIM Bangalore, IIM Calcutta

Shiksha: Tell us something about your educational background, family and hobbies.

Parul: I have done my bachelor's in Computer Science from NIT Jalandhar in 2020 and I am currently working as a Senior Analyst in Accenture. My father works in PSPCL and my mother is a Principal.

Shiksha: Any tips for future CAT aspirants?

Parul: Stay calm and focused, hard work will surely lead to fruitful results.

At GIBS, the faculty-to-student ratio is around 1:15, which honestly makes learning a lot easier. Since the classes aren't overcrowded, the faculty actually get time to focus on each student.
