CSIR NET Exam Pattern

The authority released the CSIR NET 2025 application form for the December session at csirnet.nta.nic.in. The Application Form needs to be filled by candidates in two parts – registration and application. Check below the methods to apply online for the exam:

• Visit at csirnet.nta.nic.in
• Click on the application form button
• Click on the new registration button
• Read the instructions and click on the checkbox given at the bottom of the page
• Click on Click Here to Proceed button
• Fill in all details asked in the registration form
• Click on Submit
• Note down the system-generated application number and password
• Login to the registered account using the application number and password
• Fill in all details asked in the form
• Upload scanned images of photo and signature in JPG format as per the prescribed specifications

• Download and print the confirmation page

CSIR NET Syllabus for all five subjects, namely Earth, Atmospheric, Ocean and Planetary Sciences, Chemical Sciences, Life Sciences, Mathematical Sciences, and Physical Sciences, is mentioned below.

CSIR NET Syllabus: Part A

• Numerical Ability- Number and Simplification; Average; Quadratic Equations; Sequence and Series; Surd and Indices; Logarithms; Percentage; Profit and Loss; Simple Interest & Compound Interest; Partnership; LCM and HCF; Probability; Mensuration.
• Reasoning- Series Formation; Ranking and Arrangement; Puzzles; Coding-Decoding; Distance and Directions; Calendar and Clock, etc.
• Data Interpretation and Graphical Analysis- Mean, Median & Mode; Measures of Dispersion; Graphical Analysis: Bar Graph, Line Graph; Pie-Chart; Tabulation.

CSIR NET Syllabus: Part B & C

A detailed CSIR NET Syllabus will help the students score better on the exam and present better clarity of the topics to be covered.

• Chemical Sciences- Inorganic Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Interdisciplinary topics, etc.
• Earth Sciences- Geology, Applied Geology, Physical Geography, Geophysics, Meteorology, Ocean Sciences, etc.
• Life Sciences- Molecules and their Interaction, Cellular Organization, Developmental Biology, Diversity of Life Forms, Cell Communication and Cell Signaling, Ecological Principles, etc.
• Mathematical Sciences- Analysis Linear Algebra, Complex Analysis Algebra, Topology, Ordinary Differential Equations (ODEs), Partial Differential Equations (PDEs), Numerical Analysis, Calculus of Variations, Linear Integral Equations, Classical Mechanics, Statistics, Exploratory Data Analysis, etc.
• Physical Sciences- Mathematical Methods of Physics, Classical Mechanics, Electromagnetic Theory, Quantum Mechanics, Thermodynamic and Statistical Physics, Electronics and Experimental Methods, Atomic and Molecular Physics, Condensed Matter Physics, Nuclear and Particle Physics, etc.

The CSIR UGC NET Exam is conducted for a total of five subjects – Chemical Sciences; Earth, Atmospheric, Ocean and Planetary Sciences; Life Sciences; Mathematical Sciences and Physical Sciences. Although the CSIR NET question paper for each subject differs, the pattern of creation of papers is largely the same.

CSIR NET Question Paper for each subject contains objective-type multiple-choice questions (MCQs) of 200 marks. Each CSIR UGC NET paper is divided into three parts – A, B and C. Questions in Part A are common for all candidates. Questions in Parts B and C differ as per the subject chosen by the candidate.

Each part of the CSIR NET exam contains a different number of questions. Total questions that candidates need to attempt also differ as per the subject chosen by the candidate. 

Candidate need to complete th exam in three hours.
