JEE Main Application Form 2026 Session 2: The National Testing Agency (NTA) will release the JEE Main 2026 April session application form by the last week of January 2026, the most expected date is January 31. The online registration process will remain open until the last week of February 2026. The registration process will open on the official website jeemain.nta.nic.in. To fill the NTA JEE application form for the session 2 exam, candidates have to register, fill the online form, upload a live photo, upload the documents needed and pay the application fees.

The candidates who have applied for JEE Main session 1 and want to apply again for the April session do not have to register from the start. They can login with their January session application number and password, verify the details, select the papers for the exam, choose the exam city and proceed to pay the application fee.

Before starting the JEE Mains session 2 registration, candidates should be ready with valid ID proofs and scanned documents. The JEE Mains 2026 session 2 exam will be held between April 2 and 9. For complete details on JEE Main April application process, read below.

JEE Main 2026 Session 2 Registration Date

The JEE Main 2026 session 2 registration will begin in the last week of January as per the official NTA notice. But as of today, the registration link is not yet active. Going by the previous years' release dates, the session 2 registration is expected to start on January 31, 2026.

What’s New in JEE Main Application Process - Aadhar/DigiLocker and Live Photo

There are a few new additions in the JEE Main 2026 application process, which the candidates applying for the first time in the session 2 exam should take care of:

JEE Main 2026 Application Form Filling via Aadhaar / DigiLocker Authentication

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has made the facility to use the Digilocker app/Aadhaar during JEE Main registration 2026. Although it is not mandatory for all candidates, those who can use the DigiLocker can make use of the facility to upload certificates during the JEE Main application process.

NTA reserves the right for verification of the candidate’s details and photographs. Therefore, the candidates who will use Aadhaar/DogiLocker for registration are advised to update their details on the Aadhaar Card with their recent Photograph, Name, Date of Birth, Gender, Address etc. (for updation in Aadhaar, please follow UIDAI Guidelines).

Live Photo Capture during JEE Mains Session 2 Registration

The candidate will have to upload their live photograph at the time of filling the application form. For capturing a live photograph, candidates have to switch on their camera or connect their webcam to the device used for filling out the NTA JEE application form. If your device does not support a webcam, the QR code on the right can be scanned by the candidate using a mobile device/tablet, etc. Candidates should ensure there is a light-colored background with proper lighting, and 80% face visibility (including ears, without a mask).

Q:   Can I fill JEE Main application form 2026 offline?

No, JEE Main application form can only be filled online. The application form of JEE Main is released only in online mode on the website jeemain.nta.ac.in. There is no option of filling the application form in offline mode. Candidates who do not have a laptop/personal computer can visit the computer centre/common service centres to fill the application form. While filling the JEE Main 2026 application form, candidates will also have to upload scanned image of their photo and signature. Candidates belonging to reserved category (Gen-EWS/SC/ST/OBC-NCL) also need to upload the category certificate.

Q:   Do I need to send the printout of JEE Main application form to NTA office?

No, candidates are not required to send the prinout of JEE Main application form 2026 to the NTA office. Candidates have to fill and submit the application form online only. NTA has released the JEE Main 2026 eligibility criteria along with the JEE Main 2026 information brochure/notification. Candidates can check the eligibility conditions here to ensure they meet the requirements to apply for the exam like JEE Mains age limit, percentage in class 12 etc.

  • Candidates must have passed the Class 12 exam in 2024/2025 or are appearing in 2026. Candidates can appear in the exam for three consecutive years from the year of passing the class 12 exam making JEE Main number of attempts six.
  • No age limit required JEE Main 2026 Registration.
  • No minimum marks in class 12th (75% marks not required to appear in JEE Main)
  • For Paper 1 (BE/BTech), candidates must have Physics and Maths in Class 12 and any other subject from Chemistry/Biology/Biotechnology/Technical vocational subject.
  • For Paper 2A (BArch), candidates must have Physics, Chemistry, and Maths in Class 12.
  • For Paper 2B (BPlan), candidates must have Maths in Class 12

Q:   Is 75 percent marks in class 12 required for JEE Mains?
A: 

Candidates need not have 75 percent marks in class 12 for appearing in JEE Main. As per the official brochure released by the NTA, there is no minimum percentage required for appearing in the JEE Main. The requirement of 75 percent marks need not be associated with appearing in the JEE Main exam.

It is to be understood that 75 percent marks is required for admission to institutes which include NITs, IIITs, GFTIs and IITs. Many institutes offer admission at 60% and even less, along with JEE Main. Candidates must clearly understand that the requirement of 75 percent marks in class 12 is only for taking admission in the institutes.

Q:   When will JEE Main 2026 Registration start?

Documents Required for JEE Mains 2026 Registration

Candidates must be ready with all the JEE Mains 2026 registration documents required mentioned here before applying. All the documents must be within the size, dimension and format as mentioned in the information brochure.

  • Valid and functional email and mobile number. To receive confirmation and verification messages from NTA, an active email address and mobile number are mandatory.
  • Class 10 certificate/mark sheet.

Essential Guidelines for Images and Documents

  • A colour or black and white photo should be used in JEE Main 2026 registration. The candidates are allowed to have spectacles in the photograph. Sunglasses and caps are not allowed.
  • Unclear photos will not be accepted in JEE Main application form. The uploaded photo should be clear and adhere to the recommended file size and format as specified in the guidelines provided by NTA.
  • The signature should be clearly done on white paper. The size and format of the uploaded signature should comply with the guidelines.
  • The documents uploaded in JEE Main Registration form should be of the size and format prescribed by the NTA.

Important Points To Remember While Filling JEE Main Form 2026

The process of JEE Main registration is completely online. Candidates filling the JEE Main registration form must adhere to the points mentioned here while applying for the exam.

  • Candidates must be careful with the details they fill in the application form, as incorrect details can lead to cancellation of their candidature.
  • Dimension and size of scanned images of photo and signature must be within specifications mentioned in the information brochure of JEE Mains.
  • Size and fomat of scanned document like SC/ST/OBC-NCL/Gen-EWS, PwD/PwBD certificate certificate or UDID card must be as per the specification.

Instructions for Selecting Exam City Preference

Candidates must select the exam city preference carefully while filling the application form. Candidates can select maximum four option as their choice of test cities for the exam centre in order of their priority. Choice of centre cities will be limited to the state of permanent address or state of present address only and in certain cases, only one option may also be available based on the address criteria.

NTA will allot the exam city to the candidates in order of choice opted by them in their JEE Main form. However, due to administrative/logistic reasons, a different city can be allotted, not filled during JEE Main registration.

NTA JEE Main 2026 Registration Problems and their Solution

Students may experience various difficulties when completing the JEE Main application forms, like payment issues or trouble uploading images. Some of the frequent problems and their possible solutions are listed below. 

Issues with uploading documents

Issues with uploading documents and scanned copies of photographs/signatures are the most common problems many students encounter when completing the JEE Main 2026 application. The most common reason for these issues is that the images to be uploaded do not adhere to NTA standards. The issue can be quickly fixed by resizing the image according to the NTA specifications. The images can be resized using one of the many online tools available. Keep the scanned copies of the documents in the proper format and size.

Issues with Application Fee Payment

Due to a slow internet speed or problems with the bank server, candidates may experience difficulties paying the fee. Candidates are recommended to try the payment process again later in this circumstance. If the money has been deducted, but the payment status still indicates that payment has not been made, candidates must wait 24 hours before retrying. Candidates will have to pay the fee again if the status still shows “not paid” after 24 hours. The previously paid amount will be credited back to their bank accounts.

Timeout or File not found error

To fill the JEE Main 2026 application form, make sure you open the application form page in the recent version of Mozilla Firefox/Internet Explorer and have a stable internet connection. Clear the browser's cookies and history in case of a timeout error, then retry during off-peak hours.

Q:   When will NTA start JEE Main application correction facility?
A: 

JEE Mains correction window 2026 has now been closed. The facility to make corrections is available online on the JEE Main website jeemain.nta.nic.in. During the correction window, candidates are allowed to change/modify details filled in their application form. Candidates must note that not all fields in the application form will be open for correction. Only certain information like category, address of correspodance/permanent address, exam city preference, paper choice, signature etc. can be modified. Candidates might also be required to pay additional fees for making corrections in certain fields.

How to Check the Status of NTA JEE Application Form 2026?

To know if NTA has accepted the JEE Mains application form, candidates must check if the Acknowledgement Slip or Confirmation Page is generated.

  • Login at jeemain.nta.nic.in using the application number and password.
  • Under the login on the student dashboard, candidates can check the application status.
  • An Acknowledgement Slip or Confirmation Page will be available for download if the application process and the fee submission is sucessful.
  •  If the confirmation page is not generated, this means the fee payment is pending or is unsuccessful.

Q:   Is there any fee for making corrections in JEE Main Application form 2026?
A: 

No, candidates need not pay any fees for making corrections in JEE Main application form. However, if any candidate changes his/her category from SC/ST/OBC-NCL/PWD to underserved category, they need to pay the difference in application fees. For making any other changes, candidates don't have to pay any fees. JEE Main correction window will be active in December after the application process is closed.

Q:   Can I upload black & White photo in JEE Main application form?
A: 

Yes, candidates can upload black & white photograph in JEE Mains application form. There is no restriction on the type of photograph. The conditions that candidates need to fulfill for uploading the photograph are

  • Photograph should be in JPEG/JPG format
  • Dimention has to be 3.5 cm x 4.5 cm
  • Size has to be 10 KB to 200 KB

Also, the photograph should be clear with white background. The candidates are allowed to have spectacles in the photograph but sunglasses and caps are not allowed. JEE Main application form 2024 will be released in December.

Q:   I have mistakenly filled the wrong category in my JEE Main application form. Will my form be rejected?
A: 

Candidates who mistakenly fill any details wrong can modify/correct the details during JEE Main application correction facility. NTA allows the candidate to make corrections after the last date of application process. To make corrections, candidates need to login on the JEE Main official website during the specified dates and  modify the details. In case candidate has entered wrong category, he/she may need to apy the application fee as per the new category. Other details like photo, signature, exam centre preference, paper choice, address can also be changed during the correction window.   

Q:   I do not have Chemistry subject in my class 12. Can I still apply for JEE Main?
A: 

As per the JEE Main eligibility criteria, candidates must have Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects and any one subject from the optional list of Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, or Technical vocation course. If you have any of the sunject from optional list and both compulsory subjetc, you can apply for JEE Mains. For more details, candidates can visit the official JEE Main website.

Q:   Do I need to send the printout of JEE Main application form to NTA office?
A: 

No, candidates are not required to send the prinout of JEE Main application form 2026 to the NTA office. Candidates have to fill and submit the application form online only. However, it is advised that candidates download, take a printout of their filled application form and keept it safe until the completion of admission process. JEE Main 2026 application form copy might be required at the time of counselling/admission process in the institute. 

Q:   I am not able to upload the live photo capture in JEE Main application form. What should I do?
A: 

If candidates are facing issue in live photo capture, it can be due to mismatch from photo uploaded in Aadhar. For this, they need to visit the Aadhar update centre and get their current photo updated in the Aadhaar database.

The issue can also be due to any servor error/slow internet connectivity for which candidates can try uploading it after some time. Also, there can be a case of laptop/computer not supporting the webcame, for this, candidates can upload the photo using QR code provided in the application process.

Q:   What is JEE Main class 12th percentage criteria?
A: 

No minimum percentage is required to appear in JEE Mains exam as per NTA. In some various institutes, there is a creiteria for class 12 minimum percentage for admission. For example, IITs and NITs need minimum 75% marks in class 12 for BTech courses.

Q:   What should I do if I am not able to pay the fee for the JEE Main 2026 application form?
A: 

Candidates can face difficulty in payment of application fees due to various reasons like

  • Slower internet connection while paying fees
  • Slow bank server
  • Insufficient balance in bank

In case any candiate faces issues while trying to pay JEE Main application fees, they should try paying the fees after some time. Candidates can also try logging out the application form process once and then try paying application fee again after logging in. If the situation still persists, students can contact NTA JEE Main helpline number.
