The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced the Joint Entrance Examination (Mains) JEE Mains 2026 exam date at jeemain.nta.nic.in. The JEE Main session 1 exam 2026 will be held between January 21 and 30, 2026, while the session 2 exam is scheduled from April 1 to 10, 2026. The JEE Main 2026 registration date for session 1 is October 2025. The session 2 registration window will open in the last week of January 2026.
A major change in the JEE Mains 2026 registration process is the auto-fetch feature of candidate details such as name, date of birth, gender, photograph, and address from UIDAI using Aadhaar authentication. NTA takes this step to make the JEE Mains form-filling process smooth and reduce the chances of errors in the key details. Candidates will only need to enter details like their father’s or mother’s name, as these are not recorded in Aadhaar. The agency specifies that applicants will be given an option for edits in case of a name mismatch in the Aadhaar card and class 10th marksheet.
The public notice released on October 19 provides much-needed clarity on the JEE Main documents required and the exam centres. It was speculated that candidates would not be given any city choices, and the allocation of JEE Main 2026 exam centres will be done as per the address mentioned on the Aadhar card. Many students and parents feared this move might cause more harm than simplifying the registration process. Many would have to travel long distances if their documents are not updated, and that would mean more costs, inconvenience and trouble even before the real battle, i.e., the JEE Mains exam 2026.
An official from NTA refuted these claims; however, it is now cemented that the previous advisory on Aadhar details updation was misinterpreted. NTA announced that it is ‘working towards increasing the number of JEE Main exam cities for wider reach and ease of engineering aspirants.’ The notice further stated that NTA is committed to addressing the requirements and needs of PwD/PwBD candidates appearing in JEE Mains 2026.
Steps To Fill the JEE Main 2026 Application Form
- Registration: Visit jeemain.nta.nic.in. Click on the JEE Main 2026 application form. Register as a ‘New Candidate’.
- Form-Filling: Log in with your registered details and fill out the form one section at a time.
- Uploading the Documents and Fee Payment: Upload the JEE Mains 2026 required documents and pay the application fee.

In case any candiate faces issues while trying to pay JEE Main application fees, they should try paying the fees after some time. Candidates can also try logging out the application form process once and then try paying application fee again after logging in. If the situation still persists, students can contact NTA JEE Main helpline number.
No, JEE Main application form can only be filled online. The application form of JEE Main is released only in online mode on the website jeemain.nta.ac.in. There is no option of filling the application form in offline mode. Candidates who do not have a laptop/personal computer can visit the computer centre/common service centres to fill the application form. While filling the JEE Main 2026 application form, candidates will also have to upload scanned image of their photo and signature. Candidates belonging to reserved category (Gen-EWS/SC/ST/OBC-NCL) also need to upload the category certificate.
