What’s New in JEE Main Application Process
NTA has introduced two changes in the application process this year.
1. Aadhaar e-KYC
Under this new process, the basic details of candidates like name, date of birth, photo and gender which they fill in the application form will be verified from the Aadhar database through e-KYC system. Candidates are advised to ensure their Aadhaar is updated with correct details before applying for NTA JEE Mains 2026. If any mismatch is found between Aadhaar data and the details filled by the candidates, they will be notified to update their details.
2. Live Photo Capture
As per this new process, the live photo of candidate will be captured using webcam of computer/laptop while filling the form. In case the laptop/computer does not have the live photo capture support, candidates have the option to upload their live photo using a QR Code that will be available at the time of filling the form.
JEE Main 2026 Registration and Application Process
The process to apply for JEE Main 2026 consists of three stages
- Registration
- Filling of Application Form and Uploading Necessary Documents
- Fee Payment
JEE Main 2026 Registration
This is the first stage of applying for the exam. Candidates have to click on the ‘Registration for JEE Main 2026 Session 1’ link available on the website. Upon clicking it, candidates will move to the registration form page. Check all instructions and fill the required details. JEE Main 2026 application number will be generated and displayed on the screen/sent on mail ID provided once the registration is complete. The application number has to be kept safe since it will be required during the entire admission process. Check instructions on how to register
- Visit the official JEE Main Registration NTA website jeemain.nta.nic.in 2026
- Select the "New Candidate Registration"
- Fill the registration form with the required information, and create a passport of your choice.
- Click on the "submit" button.
Candidates will receive application number details through SMS/email on the registered phone number and email ID. The registration is complete at this stage. Candidates can continue filling the application form by clicking on the "Complete Application Form" button or log out to fill the form later.
Filling of JEE Main 2026 Application Form
At this stage candidates have to fill personal details, Paper for which applying, selecting the examination cities, providing the details of educational qualifications and uploading the images and documents. Candidates will have to upload his/her live photograph and will also have to upload his/her scanned images of photograph, signature, class 10 certificate, and EWS/OBC-NCL/PwD/PwBD certificate (if applicable) at this stage of application form.
Payment of JEE Main Application Fees
Candidates will have to pay the JEE Main 2026 registration fee online through net banking/credit card/debit card/UPI. The fees applicabl to candidate will depend on their category and papers for which appearing. Application form will be submitted automatically once the fees is paid. Take printout of the confirmation page for future use.
JEE Main 2026 Eligibility Criteria to Fill Form
NTA has released the JEE Main 2026 eligibility criteria along with the information brochure/notification. Candidates can check the eligibility conditions for JEE Main here to ensure they meet the requirements to apply for the exam like JEE Mains age limit, percentage in class 12 etc.
- Candidates must have passed the Class 12 exam in 2024/2025 or are appearing in 2026.
- No age limit.
- No minimum marks in class 12th (75% marks not required to appear in JEE Main)
- For Paper 1 (BE/BTech), candidates must have Physics and Maths in Class 12 and any other subject from Chemistry/Biology/Biotechnology/Technical vocational subject.
- For Paper 2A (BArch), candidates must have Physics, Chemistry, and Maths in Class 12.
- For Paper 2B (BPlan), candidates must have Maths in Class 12

Documents Required for JEE Mains 2026 Registration
Candidates must be ready with all the information/ documents required to fill JEE Mains form mentioned here before applying. Here is the list of JEE Main 2026 Registration documents.
- Valid email and mobile number. To receive confirmation and verification messages from NTA, an active email address and mobile number are mandatory.
- Class 10 and Class 12 certificates. Candidates need to upload only the Class 10 certificate in the application form.
- Aadhar card details
- Scanned photo and signature of the candidate as per the size and dimension (photograph will also be captured using webcam of laptop/computer)
- Candidates belonging to the OBC-NCL/EWS category need to provide details of the issue date and the name of the person who issued the certificate. OBC-NCL/EWS candidates need not upload the certificate, but only the details of the certificate have to be filled in the form.
- Scanned copy of the PwD/PwBD certificate. PwD/PwBD candidates have to upload the certificate in the form.

Essential Guidelines for Images and Documents
- A colour or black and white photo should be used. The candidates are allowed to have spectacles in the photograph. Sunglasses and caps are not allowed.
- Unclear photos will not be accepted. The uploaded photo should be clear and adhere to the recommended file size and format as specified in the guidelines provided by NTA.
- The signature should be clearly done on white paper. The size and format of the uploaded signature should comply with the guidelines.
- The documents uploaded should be of the size and format prescribed by the NTA.

Yes, candidates can upload black & white photograph in JEE Mains application form. There is no restriction on the type of photograph. The conditions that candidates need to fulfill for uploading the photograph are

Aadhar enrollment number is a unique number which students can find in the acknowledgement receipt received at the time of applying for Aadhar. Students should know that Aadhar enrollment number is not same as Aadhar number. At the time of filling JEE Main application form, candidates have to fill Aadhar Enrollment number and not Aadhar number.
In case candidates do not have Aadhar enrollment number, students can apply through Passport, PAN or ABC ID (Academic Bank of Credit ID).
JEE Main 2026 Application Fee
The NTA has released the details of the JEE Mains 2026 registration fee along with the information brochure. Candidates are provided here JEE Main application fee details for reference. JEE Main fees can be paid online only through Credit/Debit cards, Net banking, and UPI/wallets. The form will be considered submitted only after successful payment of the JEE Main application fee. The following points must be kept in mind while applying for JEE Main 2026.

There is no requirement of 75% marks in class 12 for appearing in JEE Mains 2026. The eligibility criteria of minimum 75% marks in class 12 is required at the time of admission in NITs, IIITs and GFTIs. JEE Mains 2026 Application Form Correction

Yes, Candidates who wish to appear in both the sessions of JEE Main 2026 need to fill application form separately for all sessions. However, the JEE Main registration need to be done only once. Candidates who apply for the first session of JEE Mains 2026 can use their session 1 application number and password to login and apply for the second session. During the second session of application filling, candidates only need to enter details of paper for which appearing, exam centre preference and pay the application fees. Other details related to education, address, parents details documents uploaded are taken from the first session application process.
Candidates also have the option of filling the combined application form for both session 1 and 2 during session 2 application process.
JEE Mains correction window 2026 will open after the last date of filling the application form. The facility to make correction will be available online on the JEE Main official website jeemain.nta.nic.in. No, candidates need not pay any fees for making corrections in JEE Main application form. However, if any candidate changes his/her category from SC/ST/OBC-NCL/PWD to underserved category, they need to pay the difference in application fees. For making any other changes, candidates don't have to pay any fees. JEE Main correction window will be active in December after the application process is closed.
