UGC NET 2026: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has released the UGC NET 2026 City Intimation Slip for the June session on June 10 at ugcnet.nta.nic.in. Candidates can download it by visiting the official website or via direct link provided below. To download it, candidates required the login credentials. Earlier, the UGC NET June session detailed schedule was released by the NTA. The exam will be conducted from June 22 to June 30. The UGC NET admit card will be released by June 15. The authority added two new subjects in UGC NET 2026 exam June session. The two subjects are Forestry and Statistics. So, the count list of the subjects rose to 87 instead of 85. The UGC NET notifiction was released on April 29 and the last date to apply was May 24. The application correction dates were May 26 to 28.

The NTA also added four news examination centres in the North Eastern Region. According to the notice issued by the NTA, these newly added UGC NET 2026 exam centres are located in Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur and Meghalaya. What is UGC NET?

University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET) or NTA UGC NET is a national-level exam conducted to determine the eligibility of candidates for only Assistant Professor or both Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and Assistant Professor posts in Indian universities and colleges. The syllabus differs for all 87 subjects and is prescribed by the University Grants Commission itself.

UGC NET Posts

The candidates who will qualify for the NET JRF and Assistant Professorship through the UGC NET will be offered an assistant professor's position or the position of a research scholar. The candidates can get the difference between these two positions below:

Junior Research Fellowship (JRF): The candidates who will qualify for the JRF (Junior Research Fellowship) can apply for the position of assistant professor and research scholar. The research scholars will be paid a stipend of 37,000 (for the initial 2 years) and 42,000 (from the 3rd year) to complete their research in a specific field. The candidates qualifying for the JRF can also apply for the position of assistant professor in different universities along with a career as a research scholar.
Assistant Professors: The candidates qualifying for the eligibility exam for the position of Assistant professor can apply for the position to teach in different universities/colleges. The candidates can also apply for the PhD. However, the candidates qualifying for the PhD will not be eligible to get any stipend from the Government to complete their PhD.

UGC NET Eligibility Criteria 2026

The NTA released the UGC NET 2026 June session notification at ugcnet.nta.nic.in. The eligibility criteria consists of educational qualification, age limit, and relaxation norms for reserved category candidates such as SC, ST, OBC, and PwD. Candidates who have cleared the State Eligibility Test (SET) before June 1, 2002, are exempted from taking the exam

EWS Certificate

The candidates who have applied for the exam under economically weaker sections and if they qualify for the exam will get the UGC NET EWS certificate. The candidates falling under the EWS will get a 10 per cent reservation in the recruitment exam. However, the candidates don't have to upload the EWS certificate while submitting the online form for the recruitment exam but the certificate has to be presented in front of the recruitment committee.

The authority will declare the UGC NET Result for the June session at ugcnet.nta.nic.in. The NTA uses the percentile scores method to calculate the result. It will be released in the form of PDF. UGC NET Marks for PHD

The results is divided into three categories. The detailed category-wise update has been given below:

Category 1: Candidates qualified with JRF will be eligible for the Junior Research Fellowship, Appointment as Assistant Professors, and Enrollment as PhD scholar.
Category 2: Candidates qualified for NET will be eligible for Assistant Professorship and admission as PhD scholar
Category 3: Based on the marks obtained by the candidates, the candidates will be allowed in the universities as a PhD scholar

Note: The candidates from Category 2 & 3 will have to go through an interview by the Universities to enroll as a PhD scholar. 70% weightage will be given to the NET score and 30% marks will be based on the interview.

UGC NET Certificate 2026

The certificate for the December session is available on the official website at ugcnet.nta.nic.in. UGC NET Selection Process 2026

UGC NET selection process begins with the release of official notification. The notification is the first official document that gives information regarding the exam such as exam dates, eligibility criteria, exam pattern, syllabus, and others.
