NIRF Engineering Rankings 2022: Check Top NIRF Ranked Engineering Colleges in India
The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Madras, has yet again bagged the top position in the NIRF ranking 2022. The rankings were released by education minister Dharmendra Pradhan on July 15, 2022. Besides bagging the top position in the ‘Overall Institutes’ category, the institute has also been ranked Number 1 in the ‘Engineering College’ Category. The IITs have bagged the top 8 positions in the NIRF Rankings 2022 of Top Engineering Institutes in India.
IIT Delhi is ranked 2nd followed by IIT Bombay at 3rd, IIT Kanpur at 4th, IIT Kharagpur on 5th, IIT Roorkee on 6th and IIT Guwahati on 7th. IIT Madras, IIT Delhi, IIT Bombay, IIT Kanpur, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Roorkee, IIT Guwahati maintained their last year's position in the latest ranking. However, IIT Hyderabad has dropped a position and is now ranking 9th. NIT Tiruchirapalli and NIT Surathkal have made it top 10 list of engineering colleges by bagging Rank 8 and 10, respectively.

Known as the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF), the rankings are based on 5 parameters:
- Teaching and Learning Resources(TLR)
- Graduation Outcome(GO)
- Perception(PR)
- Outreach and Inclusivity(OI)
- Research and Professional Practice(RP)
The Ministry of Education has announced the rankings for 9 categories: Overall, Colleges, Universities, Engineering, Management, Pharmacy, Medical, Architecture and Law.
