At IIT Kanpur's 58th Convocation 2025, the institute conferred 2,848 degrees across undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral levels.

IIT Kanpur Convocation 2025: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) held its 58th convocation, awarding degrees to 2,848 students across various programmes. RBI Governor and distinguished alumnus Sanjay Malhotra graced the occasion as Chief Guest. Top honours, including the President’s Gold Medal, were presented to meritorious students, while 21 scholars received Outstanding PhD Thesis Awards.

IIT Kanpur 58th Convocation 2025: Graduating Batch

At the undergraduate level, 874 students received the Bachelor of Technology (BTech) degree, while 204 were awarded the Bachelor of Science (BS) degree. Additionally, 93 students graduated with a dual degree, and 26 students completed a double major.

At the postgraduate level, 480 students earned an MTech, 269 a PhD, and 83 an MS by Research. Additionally, 194 received a two-year MSc, 145 an MBA, 20 an MDes, 40 graduated from the PGPEX-VLFM programme, 26 from the MS in Product Design, and 361 completed the eMasters programme.

In the joint degree category, 29 students graduated with an MTech-PhD, two with an MDes-PhD, and two with an MS (by Research)-PhD. Additionally, 192 students completed their programmes with one minor, 90 with two minors, 30 with three, three with four, and one student graduated with five minors.

President's Gold Medal at IIT Kanpur Convocation 2025

Talin Gupta from Computer Science and Engineering was awarded the prestigious President's Gold Medal. The Director's Gold Medal for the four-year undergraduate programme was conferred upon Dhruv Misra from Electrical Engineering, while Kalash Talati from Physics received the same honour for the five-year undergraduate programme. Varun Tokas, also from Computer Science and Engineering, received the Ratan Swarup Memorial Prize, and Abhishek Kumar Yadav from Chemistry was honoured with the Dr. Shankar Dayal Sharma Medal.

Celebrating Doctoral Distinction at IIT Kanpur Convocation

Twenty-one students were honoured with the Outstanding Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) Thesis Award for their exceptional research contributions. The awards spanned a wide range of disciplines, including Aerospace Engineering, Biosciences and Bioengineering, Civil Engineering, Chemistry, Electrical Engineering, Humanities and Social Sciences, Economics, Environmental Science, Mechanical Engineering, Mathematics, and Physics.
