Students must meet the minimum eligibility criteria for their chosen specializations as set by various colleges. The basic eligibility for various UG level Engineering courses like BTech CSE, BTech Biotechnology,  B Tech Mechanical Engineering, BTech Food Technology and MTech courses like MTech CSE are given in the table below.

BE/BTech

 

Students must pass Class 12 exam from a recognized board with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as core subjects. For a few specializations, Biology may be considered.

 

They must have secured at least 50 to 75 percent marks in the above subjects combined, which may vary depending on the college and the chosen specialization.

BTech Lateral Entry

Students must have passed a three-year diploma granted by the Board of Technical Examination of a State Government, with at least 45 to 50 percent aggregate marks or equivalent, for lateral entry in B Tech.

ME/MTech

Candidates who have completed their BE/BTech degree with a valid score in GATE are eligible for the ME/MTech degree course along with at least 55% marks in graduation.

Diploma

Students must have passed Class 10/equivalent examination, with at least 50 percent in Science and Mathematics subjects.

PhD

Students must have secured a minimum of 55 percent marks in MTech or equivalent degree in appropriate branches.

The Engineering admission process after 12th differs from one college to another. For BTech courses, students should pass Class 12 with the Science stream, with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as mandatory subjects and get at least 50 to 60 percent marks (75% in the case of IITs). For MTech, students must have completed their graduation with at least 55% marks. Further it is important to clear relevant entrance exams.
