Candidates can pay the JoSAA 2025 counselling seat acceptance fee using a Debit card / UPI / Credit card / Net Banking / E-Challan / CSC..

JoSAA advises the candidates to pay the seat acceptance fee on the first day of the respective round itself and not wait for the last day, so that their documents may be verified, leaving sufficient time for the candidate to properly respond to the queries / additional queries, if any, of the reporting officer.

• The Seat acceptance fee is INR 15,000 for candidates with the category tag SC, ST, GEN-PwD, GEN-EWS-PwD, OBC-NCL-PwD, SC-PwD or ST-PwD.
• INR 30,000 for all other candidates (the fee includes INR 5,000 JoSAA processing charges).

The seat acceptance fee, excluding JoSAA processing charges of INR 5000, will be adjusted against the admission fee.

If a candidate gets a seat allotted in the first round of JoSAA counselling, they have to complete the following steps before June 18:

• Decide what to do with the allotted seat - freeze or float, or slide.
• Pay the seat acceptance fee
• Upload the required documents and look for the document verification-related query under your login from the verification officer.
• If you have a query from the officer regarding the query.
• Once the queries are resolved, download the issued provisional seat allotment letter.

If a seat is not allotted in JoSAA 2025 counselling roudn 1, wait for further rounds of allotment.

Candidates have the option to reject (or not accept) the allocated seat. Candidates who want to reject the allocated seat can do so by NOT completing the steps for “Online Reporting” including not remitting the seat acceptance fee.

If a candidate turns down a seat by not finishing all the steps in the "Online Reporting" process, which includes paying the required fee, uploading necessary documents, and getting them verified, the seat will be cancelled. As a result, the candidate will be removed from the JoSAA process, meaning they won't be able to participate in any future rounds of seat allocation. This means the candidate will lose their chance to get admitted to any of the institutes through JoSAA for 2025.

The candidates who will be allotted a seat in round 1 of JoSAA counselling will have to pay the seat acceptance fee by June 18, or else they will be eliminated from the JoSAA counselling process.

If you do not like the seat allotted to you in the JoSAA round 1, then choose among the float and slide options.

• Float: Choosing “Float” means the candidate accepts the offered seat and is willing to be considered for admission to a higher-preference academic program at any Institute in subsequent rounds. If no higher preference is offered, the candidate will continue with the accepted academic program. Candidates opting for “Float” will be considered in future rounds of JoSAA 2025.
• Slide: Selecting “Slide” means the candidate accepts the offered seat and is open to being allocated a higher-preference academic program within the same Institute in later rounds of seat allocation. Candidates who choose “Slide” will also be considered in subsequent rounds of JoSAA 2025.

If you have accepted a seat in a certain round and would like to be considered for a seat of higher preference in any Institute, you need to choose the option of ‘Float’. Further, if you are allocated a seat of higher preference in a subsequent round of JoSAA seat allocation, your earlier accepted seat will be automatically cancelled, and you will have to accept the newly allocated seat. If you are not allocated a seat of higher preference in a subsequent round, you will continue in the already accepted seat, and you will also be considered for seat allocation in any Institute (based on your preference in the choice list) in the subsequent rounds if you continue with the ‘Float’ option.

You can also choose slide, which means you accept the offered seat and are open to being allocated a higher-preference academic program within the same Institute in later rounds of seat allocation. 

CSAB (Central Seat Allocation Board) and JoSAA (Joint Seat Allocation Authority) are both involved in the seat allocation process for engineering admissions in IITs, NITs, IIEST, IIITs, and other GFTIs. However, via JoSAA seat are allotted to all available seats in IITs, NITs, IIEST, IIITs, and other GFTIs. But via CSAB seat is allotted only at NITs, IIEST, IIITs, and other GFTIs against the vacant seats left after JoSAA counselling last round based on JEE Main scores.

Candidates have to pay the seat acceptance fee (SAF) as soon as they have been allotted a seat in any round of the JoSAA counselling process. Unless the candidate pays the SAF, the document verification will not take place for the candidate.

Here is what freezing the seat means: Choosing the option “Freeze” means that the candidate accepts the offered seat and indicates that the candidate is content with the allocated academic program and that the candidate does not want to participate in further rounds of seat allocation while retaining the same seat. Such candidates will NOT be considered in subsequent rounds of JoSAA 2025 (if any). Their chosen seat shall remain allocated to them and shall be provisionally confirmed, subject to the successful completion of all the steps.

Partial Admission Fee (PAF), for NIT/IIIT/GFTIs only (to be paid between July 23 to 27, 2025): Partial admission fee is INR 20,000 for candidates with the category tag SC, ST, GEN-PwD, GEN-EWS-PwD, OBC-NCL-PwD, SC-PwD or ST-PwD, and Rs. 45,000 for all other candidates.
