
JEE Main: The National Testing Agency is conducting JEE Main 2026 session 2 exam on April 2, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8. Candidates have to appear for the exam as per the shift (morning or afternoon) allotted to them on their admit card. NTA has released the JEE Main admit card for all shifts of April session exam.

The top 2.5 lakh candidates from JEE Mains also qualify for the JEE Advanced exam, which is the gateway to premier engineering institutions - Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs). The JEE Main exam consists of three papers - BE/BTech (paper 1), BArch (paper 2a) and BPlan (paper 2b). The questions in the exam are framed from the class 11 and 12 level syllabus prescribed by NTA. NTA JEE Main Admit Card 2026 Session 2
Candidates can download their JEE Main 2026 admit card for session 2 from the official website - jeemain.nta.nic.in. The JEE Main 2026 admit card is a very important document, as it serves as the identity of the candidates at the exam hall. Without the JEE Main admit card 2026, candidates will not get entry at the exam hall.
Important details like the allotted JEE Main 2026 exam centre, date and time will be mentioned on the admit card. Important exam day instructions will also be available on the admit card that candidates have to follow on the day.
The NTA JEE Main admit card must be kept safe even after the exam is over. The admit card is required during the counselling process.
On the day of the exam, candidates have to carry the JEE Main 2026 admit card as a printed copy. The candidate must show the printed admit card downloaded from the NTA website whenever asked at the exam centre.

JEE Main 2026 Session 2 Exam Day Instructions
What to carry: Candidates MUST carry the following documents on the day of exam at the test centre. In the absence of these documents, candidates will not be allowed to appear for the JEE Main 2026 exam:
- Printed copy of JEE Main 2026 admit card along with the Self Declaration (a clear printout on A4 size paper) duly filled in.
- One passport size photograph (same as uploaded on the Online Application Form) for pasting on the specific space in the attendance sheet.
- Any one of the following authorised photo IDs (must be original, valid, and non-expired):
- Valid School Identity Card
- PAN cardÂ
- Voter ID
- Passport
- Aadhaar Card (with photograph)
- e-Aadhaar with photograph
- Class 12 Board Admit Card with photograph
- Bank Passbook with Photograph
- PwD/PwBD certificate, if needed
- A simple transparent ballpoint pen
What not to carry: Do not carry any stationery items, communication devices, Mobile phones, Bluetooth devices, smartwatches, calculators, electronic devices, accessories, bits of written/ printed papers or any items restricted in the exam hall.

JEE Main 2026 Final Answer Key
The final JEE Mains answer key, released after reviewing the objections submitted by the candidates, will be used to calculate the result/score of the candidates. JEE Main 2026 Expected Cutoff
NTA releases the JEE Mains cutoff along with the session 2 result in April. JEE Main cutoff is the minimum percentile score that candidates have to score to qualify for appearing in JEE Advanced.
JEE Main cutoff is different for various categories. Candidates must note that there are NO minimum marks or cutoffs that students need to obtain to pass JEE Main exam. The score that candidates get in JEE Main decides All India Rank, and admission to NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs is purely based on All India Rank. JEE Main cutoff is only for appearing in JEE Advanced.

The JEE Main 2026 scorecard consists of details of candidate's normalised percentile score in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics, and the aggregate percentile score of all three subjects. Candidates can download their scorecard from the JEE Main website.
JEE Main cutoff percentile and toppers list have also been announced along with the result. Candidates who secure marks above JEE Main 2026 cutoff will be eligible to appear in JEE Advanced 2026.Â

After JEE Mains Result 2026
After the NTA JEE Main 2026 session 2 result is released, which will have the All India Rank of the candidates and the final percentile score based on comparison of both (January and April) sessions, candidates have two pathways to take:
- Those candidates who will qualify for JEE Advanced 2026 have to register for JEE Advanced 2026 at jeeadv.ac.in.
- Those candidates who do not qualify for JEE Advanced can apply for JoSAA counselling that will be held in June for admission to NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs.

JEE Mains exam is held to shortlist candidates for admission to UG engineering, architecture and planning courses at NITs, IIITs and GFTIs. About NTA - JEE Main Conducting Body
The Ministry of Education, India, has established the National Testing Agency (NTA) to conduct national-level exams like JEE Main. Apart from JEE Main, NTA also conducts exams like NEET, CMAT, NCHM JEE, UGC NET, etc. The current NTA chairman is Prof. (Retd.) Pradeep Kumar Joshi. He is also a former chairman of the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC).
Key details on NTA:
- National Testing Agency (NTA) was approved by the Union Cabinet in November 2017.
- Before NTA, the JEE Main exam was conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).
- NTA introduced the computer-based test mode and two attempts in the JEE Main exam structure.
- The National Test Agency also introduced percentile and normalisation methods to prepare results.
How Many Candidates Register and Appear in JEE Mains?
More than 10 lakh candidates fill the JEE Main application form every year. NTA releases JEE Main registration data every year along with the results.
