The JEE Main Eligibility Criteria enlist the conditions that every candidate needs to fulfill to be eligible to apply for the exam. The eligibility criteria include a minimum and maximum age limit, minimum marks in class 12, year of passing class 12, and a combination of subjects in the class 12 exam. Every candidate needs to ensure they meet all the eligibility criteria before filling out the JEE Main application form.

NTA will soon release the JEE Main application form 2025. Candidates interested in applying for the exam must fulfill the conditions mentioned in JEE Main eligibility criteria, failing which they would not be allowed to appear in the exam.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) lays down the minimum eligibility conditions that need to be fulfilled by every JEE Main aspirant. The conditions are on age limit, year of passing the class 12 exam, minimum marks in the class 12 exam, and subjects in the class 12 exam.

The National Testing Agency conducts the JEE Main exam for admission to undergraduate engineering courses at NIT and IIITs. The JEE Main also serves as the qualifying exam to JEE Advanced for admission to IITs. Students applying for JEE must know the eligibility criteria before they fill the application form. β‡’ JEE Main 2025 Age Criteria: For appearing in the JEE Main 2025, there is no age limit for the candidates. The candidates who have passed the class 12/equivalent examination irrespective of their age can appear in JEE Main 2025 examination. However, the candidates may be required to fulfill the age criteria of the Institute(s) to which they are desirous of taking admission.

β‡’ JEE Main 2025 Minimum Marks in Class 12: There is no requirement of minimum marks in class 12 to appear in JEE Mains exam. Candidates applying for JEE Main 2025 can appear in the JEE exam without any restrictions on minimum marks in the class 12 exam. However, candidates need to fulfill the age-related conditions of the Institute to which they are desirous of taking admission.

β‡’ JEE Main 2025 Year of Passing Qualifying Examination: Candidates applying for JEE Main must have passed the class 12 examination in 2023, 2024, or appearing in 2025. Candidates having passed the class 12 examination before 2023 or after 2025 are not eligible to apply for the JEE Mains 2025 exam.

There is no requirement of 75% marks in class 12 for appearing in JEE Mains 2026. The eligibility criteria of minimum 75% marks in class 12 is required at the time of admission in NITs, IIITs and GFTIs. A:
The minimum marks required to clear JEE Mains depends on your category. If you are an SC candidate then your cut off is 48, for ST candidate your cut off will be 56, for OBC candidate the cutoff will be 72 and for OC candidate it is 100. This is based on the year wise analysis. This needs not to be same every year. But the variation will not be very large, it just varies by 2-3 marks.

β‡’ JEE Main 2025 Subjects in Class 12: Candidates must have Mathematics and Physics as compulsory subjects along with any one optional subject among Chemistry/Biology/Computer Science/Information Technology/Technical Vocational Subject in class 12 to apply for JEE Main.
