IPU CET 2026 is an entrance exam conducted by Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU) for various courses. The exam will be attempted by many students; therefore, it is essential to get a good score for a higher chance of admission. To show their best performance, the candidates should be well prepared for the upcoming IPU CET exam.

Tips for IPU CET preparation.

Know your Exam Pattern and Syllabus

Before starting preparation, candidates must check IPU CET exam pattern. By knowing pattern, candidates will also be able to know how examination will be conducted and more. Details regarding mode of exam, duration, marking scheme, and more will also be released through exam pattern. Along with exam pattern, candidates must check official IPU CET syllabus. This will allow the candidates to know which units and topics have to be studied for the examination.

Prepare Personal Timetable

Candidates must create a personal timetable to plan study schedule. By creating a timetable, candidates can divide time equally among all subjects, units and topics that must be studied. Equal distribution of hours to different subjects can also be done if candidates create a timetable carefully. It is to be noted that timetable must have some hours allotted towards revision, mock tests and extracurricular studies. 

Mock Tests are Essential

Candidates should include solving mock tests in timetable regularly. Mock tests will help candidates understand current preparation level and accordingly create a strategy to help them overcome shortcomings. Mock tests are prepared to help candidates understand how the examination is conducted. Candidates can attempt mock tests and be more comfortable with the exam pattern. Time management can also be improved using mock tests.

Create Notes

Many experts and exam toppers have told importance of creating notes regularly. Candidates must create notes whenever they are studying topics that are conceptually difficult or have a tough formula. By writing down those points which they have a hard time understanding, candidates will be able to have more clarity and revise them whenever and wherever they wish to. Creating notes will also help candidates remember what they have studied.

Do Not Be Afraid to Communicate

Candidates must not be afraid to communicate doubts to those who are in charge. In case of any trouble regarding study material, candidates must contact teachers and clear doubts. Candidates are also encouraged to communicate with friends and discuss those topics which they are having a hard time with. This will ensure that the candidates have a clear mind and all of questions are answered.

Good Health Is Important

Along with taking care of studies, candidates must take care of health. healthy body and mind are important to achieve good results in examination. There are fewer chances of candidates performing well in examination if they are physically and mentally tired. Therefore, candidates must have good sleep routine and diet. Healthy foods and fruits should be consumed, and candidates must participate in extra-curricular activities to keep mental health stable.

Time management

After knowing pattern and syllabus, make a proper timetable to divide the time equally for each of the subjects. Time management is the key to scoring better marks in the entrance test. 

Early Preparation

The earlier you start preparing for exam, more time you will have to cover entire syllabus and practice as many questions as possible.

Revision is Important

Daily revision is very essential during the preparation period. By revising regularly, the candidates will have lesser chances of forgetting what they had earlier studied. The revision also helps the candidates to understand difficult topics and units since they will continuously go over them. In IPU CET  there is negative marking. This means one mark is reduced for each incorrect response. Marks are not deducted for unanswered questions. This means that if a candidate leaves a question unanswered, no marks are deducted.

  • Candidates must prepare with the help of some other reference books other than the NCERT textbooks. This will help them understand the topics better.
  • For the General Awareness section, candidates must read newspapers, books on current affairs, etc.
  • For English Comprehension, candidates must be proficient in the English language and need to practice grammar and vocabulary daily.
  • For Logical & Analytical Reasoning, candidates must spend more time learning.
  • For Physics and Chemistry, candidates must understand and keep practising all the formulas and important topics.

IPU CET Question Paper Pattern

IPU CET question paper will have 100 objective-type questions. Each question will carry four options, out of which only one option will be correct. Candidates are required to mark correct one on OMR sheet. The questions will be asked from Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology for BTech (BioTechnology). Q:   What is the marking scheme of IPU CET examination?

In IPU CET for each correct answer, four marks will be given, and for each incorrect answer, one mark will be reduced. There are no marks deducted for unanswered questions. Examination is conducted for 2 hours 30 minutes. Candidates must know the marking scheme before attempting exam.

Q:   How many questions are asked in the IPU CET exam for B.Tech lateral entry and B.Tech (Bio-Technology) admission?

IPU CET 2026 will be conducted for 150 minutes. There will be 100 questions with 4 Multiple Choice Response. Each question will carry 4 marks. There shall be a negative marking of one mark for every wrong answer.

Yes.  It is compulsory to attend all the sections. 20% of the questions will be in English. The candidates must definitely attempt the questions from english.

Yes. Candidates can crack the IPU CET through self-study. There is no need of coaching class for IPU CET. The syllabus will be based on what the candidates have studied in the previous course.

IPU CET eligibility criteria have been released on the official website. There are no changes in the eligibility of IPU CET 2026. However, if any changes are made, they will be announced online.

No. There is no such provision for filling the IPU CET application form offline. Students will have to register and submit an application form online. Registration can be done on the admission portal, ipu.admissions.nic.in

IPU CET 2026 eligibility criteria are different for each course. Candidates can check the eligibility for BTech Lateral Entry.

BTech (Lateral Entry) for Diploma holders

Candidates must have passed a Diploma to apply for BTech Lateral Entry.

They must have studied Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.

The official syllabus will not be made public by IPU CET University. The IPU CET 2026 undergraduate syllabus will be based on the Class 11 and 12 curriculum. It is recommended that candidates review and go over every topic and concept they studied in Classes 11 and 12.

No, IPU CET 2026 will not be conducted twice. It will be conducted only once a year for each course. The exam dates will be from March 2026 to May 2026 for various courses.
