Q:   How can I mark my answers in the WBJEE OMR sheet?

At exam centre, students will have to mark their answers in WBJEE OMR sheet. The sheet will be provided by the authorities. Out of given options, correct answer has to be marked in OMR sheet, by darkening appropriate circle/bubble.

Q:   Is the WBJEE question paper available in Bengali?
A: 

Students will have choice to attempt WBJEE question paper in English or Bengali. Each question will be available in both English and Bengali. Students can choose the one they are comfortable to use. No other language is used for WBJEE.

Q:   Is WBJEE an online or offline exam?
A: 

WBJEE is held offline as a pen and paper based test. Students have to report to the centre and attempt the exam in an OMR sheet. Out of the given options for each question, the student will have to mark the correct one with their pen and submit it.

WBJEE will be held as a multiple-choice examination. Every question will have multiple options, and students will have to select correct answer. In OMR sheet, correct answer has to be marked and submitted.

Q:   What is the division of questions in the WBJEE exam?
A: 

WBJEE is held as an offline test. Mathematics will have 75 questions and Physics and Chemistry will have 80 questions each. Total number of questions in WBJEE is 155.

Q:   What are the categories of the WBJEE question paper?
A: 

WBJEE question paper will have three categories. Category 1 and 2 questions will have only one correct option. Category 3 questions may have one or more correct options.

WBJEE 2026 Exam Pattern - Marking Scheme

Candidates can check the category-wise marking scheme as per the official WBJEE exam pattern given below. Every category has a different marking scheme. Only Category III questions will not have any negative marking.

Category I

Each correct answer will be awarded one mark.

An incorrect response will bring a loss of ¼ mark

For any combination of responses with more than one option, the said answer will be treated as incorrect and will bring a loss of -1/4 (25% negative) marks.

Category II

Only one option is correct; the correct response yields two marks.

An incorrect response will bring a loss of -1/2 (25% negative) marks

For any combination of responses with more than one option, the said answer will be treated as incorrect and will bring a loss of -1/2 (25% negative) mark.

Category III

One or more options may be correct. Only correct responses will be given 2 (two) marks.

There is no negative marking.

Q:   What is the total duration of WBJEE paper?

Total duration of WBJEE is four hours. WBJEE is divided into two papers. 2 hours each will be given for Paper 1 (Mathematics) and Paper 2 (Physics and Chemistry). No extra time will be given to complete exam.

Q:   Are wrong answers negatively marked in WBJEE?
A: 

Wrong answers will be negatively marked in WBJEE. Weightage of the negative marking depends on the category of questions. Category I and II questions have negative marking. There is no negative marking for Category III questions.

Q:   What is the WBJEE marking scheme?

WBJEE marking scheme is different according to category of question. The questions are divided into three categories. For Category I and II, there is negative marking, while there is none for Category III questions.
