JEE Advanced 2025 Topper Interview: Daksha Arora, who secured AIR 24 in JEE Advanced 2025 with an impressive score of 307 marks is planning to opt for the Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) branch at IIT Delhi. Emphasising the significance of mock tests, he mentioned that JEE Advanced is a highly unpredictable exam, and solving a variety of mock tests helps students adapt to different patterns. He took around 15–20 full syllabus mock tests, which he believes played a crucial role in his success.

Q: What was your initial reaction when you saw your result and realized you were among the toppers?

Daksh: Honestly, I wouldn’t have believed it if someone had told me at the start of my preparation that I’d achieve such a rank. Both my family and I were extremely happy with the result.

Q: Tell us something about yourself. Which board have you studied under? Which school did you study in?

Daksh: I studied under the CBSE board. I was at Rosary Senior Secondary School until Class 10 and then joined P.D. Model School for Classes 11 and 12.

Q: What is your score in JEE Advanced 2025? Which college and branch will you be opting for?

Daksh: I secured 307 marks in JEE Advanced 2025, with 95 in Physics, 100 in Chemistry, and 112 in Mathematics. I am most likely to opt for the Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) branch at IIT Delhi.

Q: When did you start your JEE Advanced preparation? Tell us something about your preparation strategy and daily routine for JEE Advanced?

Daksh: I began my JEE Advanced preparation in Class 11. While I didn’t follow a strict daily routine, I aimed to study around 10 hours each day, including my time at Vidyamandir Classes. The time I devoted to each subject varied daily, depending on my focus and needs. In the final few months leading up to the exam, I dedicated extra time to Chemistry, as it was my weakest subject.

Q: Which subject did you find most challenging, and how did you overcome those hurdles?

Daksh: Chemistry was the most challenging part of my preparation. While I was naturally comfortable with Organic Chemistry, I consistently struggled with Inorganic and Physical Chemistry. To improve in Inorganic Chemistry, I began studying it for about an hour each day, which helped me retain and memorise the content more effectively. I also increased my focus on Physical Chemistry by solving more problems and assignments and regularly revisiting my notes.

Q: How did you manage stress and stay motivated throughout the preparation journey?

Daksh: I believe I was motivated during my preparation mostly because of the interest I had in maths and physics (and organic chemistry), learning new concepts or new ways to approach a problem always made it interesting and made me excited to study more.

Q: Did you rely more on coaching institutes, self-study, or a mix of both? What worked best for you?

Daksh: Both coaching and self-study play a crucial role in JEE preparation. While coaching at Vidyamandir Classes helped me build a strong conceptual foundation, self-study was essential for reinforcing those concepts and learning how to apply them effectively.

Q: What role did mock tests and previous years’ papers play in your preparation?

Daksh: Mock tests are extremely important for JEE Advanced preparation. Since the exam is highly unpredictable, practicing a wide variety of tests helps you adapt to different question patterns. I took around 15–20 full-syllabus mock tests, which proved to be a great help in my preparation.

Q: Were there any specific books, online platforms, or resources you found particularly helpful?

Daksh: I mainly relied on VMV modules, workbooks, and assignments during my preparation. Proper use of coaching material is usually enough without extra books. For Maths, ISI PYQs are a great, often overlooked source of Advanced-level questions. In Physics, solving Olympiad-level problems can also help, as JEE Advanced sometimes takes inspiration from them despite their higher difficulty.

Q: What advice would you give to students preparing for JEE Advanced 2026?

Daksh: Consistency is key, study every day without fail. Avoid focusing too much on just one subject, and don’t neglect any subject either. When starting a new chapter, prepare for both Mains and Advanced simultaneously, as it’s much harder to tackle Advanced topics after Mains. In my opinion, studying both together is the most effective approach.
