Yes, BITSAT is conducted as a computer-based test. The students will have to report to their allotted centres and attempt the exam. From the different options given for each question, the student will have to select the correct answer and submit it.
Yes. The students will be negatively marked if they answer incorrectly in the BITSAT exam. For every wrong answer, one mark will be deducted. Therefore, the students are advised to carefully check and attempt the questions, only if they are sure of the answer.
The students will be given 3 hours to complete their BITSAT exam. No extra time will be allotted to the students to complete their paper. In the BITSAT exam, the students will have to attempt a total of 130 objective multiple-choice questions. Each question will have four options, and the correct one has to be selected. If all questions are attempted before the given duration, then an additional 12 questions will be given to the students to solve for extra marks.
The BITSAT question paper is divided into four section. For the Mathematics/Biology section, there will be 40 questions. Physics and Chemistry will have 30 questions in each section. Logical Reasoning will have 20 and English Proficiency will have 10 questions. There will 130 questions in the question paper.
BITSAT is held annually in two sessions. The first session is held tentatively in May and the second session in June 2026. Students can attempt one or both sessions of BITSAT to be eligible for admission. If both sessions are attempted, then the best score will be considered.
Highlights of BITSAT 2026 Exam Pattern
The total duration of the BITSAT 2026 paper will be 3 hours. BITSAT 2026 will be held as a computer-based test. The paper will consist of multiple-choice questions. Each question will have four options, and only one answer will be correct. Students will be able to change their answers to a question at any given point. Incorrect answers will be negatively marked. There will be no time limit on when a student will have to complete each section of the exam. Questions in the BITSAT paper will be selected randomly from a large question bank, so each candidate receives a different set of questions. Candidates who complete 130 questions in the 3-hour duration will get a chance to solve 12 extra questions. On completion of the exam, the candidates will be provided with their BITSAT score immediately.

The official BITSAT 2026 exam date is yet to be announced. However, the first session is expected to held in May 2026 and the second session in June 2026. Students are eligible to attempt one of both sessions of the exam. The examination will be held as a computer-based test.
According to the official BITSAT exam pattern, every correct answer will be given 3 marks. The maximum marks for BITSAT is 390. However, for every wrong answer, the authorities will deduct one mark. Since there is negative marking, the students are advised to be careful while selecting the questions to answer.
BITSAT is not a one-day examination and will be conducted in various slots. There will be two examination slots for each day of the examination. The morning exam slot is 9 AM to 12 Noon and the afternoon exam slot is 2 PM to 5 PM. Students will be able to choose their preferred slot online.
12 Additional Questions in BITSAT 2026 Question Paper
If any candidate can attempt all 130 questions present in the BITSAT 2026 paper in less than three hours, then he/she will be allowed to attempt an additional 12 questions within the remaining time. The additional questions will be from the Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics/Biology and Logical Reasoning sections only. From each section, only three questions will be given. However, if the candidate chooses to answer these extra 12 exam questions, then they will not be allowed to go back and make any changes to the previously answered 130 questions.

No. The students will not be given any extra time to complete the 12 additional questions in the BITSAT paper. These questions have to be solved within the 3 hour duration of the examination. The additional questions will only be provided if the students complete the 130 original questions before the end of the exam.
If the students can attempt all 130 questions in less than 3 hours, then they will be given 12 additional questions to solve within the remaining time. From each section i.e., Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics/Biology and Logical Reasoning, 3 questions will be available. Students will not be able to go back to the previously attempted 130 questions, once they start solving the additional questions.
