How to Prepare for NEET 2026

Have a look at the key preparation tips and strategies for NEET exam, as advised by the experts and toppers, below-

  • Know all about the exam: First and foremost, candidates should be familiar with the exam pattern of NEET. The NEET 2026 pattern, syllabus are expected to remain the same as last year. The syllabus of NEET is the same as that of the Class 11 and Class 12 syllabi. Hence, it would not be very difficult to start with the NEET preparation.
  • Select the right NEET preparation books: The next important step is to select the best books for NEET 2026 preparation. To begin with, the NCERT books for NEET 2026 and the school textbooks will suffice. After studying the NCERT books, students can level up and refer to other NEET books and preparation materials listed above. Books specially designed for NEET preparation highlight the important chapters and topics. Practice questions are also given at the end of each chapter. Along with the books, students can also refer to study materials or notes available in the market, or on various social media platforms or distributed by coaching institutes.
  • Solve NEET question papers: After covering the syllabus, students should start practising the questions. The best way to do so is by solving NEET question papers and full-length NEET mock tests. This helps in getting exposure to various types of questions and topics.
  • Recognise strong and weak areas: After regular practice, it becomes easy to identify the strong and weak areas. While it is easy to deal with the strong areas through regular revision and practice, aspirants should make an extra effort to prepare for the weak areas. Chapter-wise weightage of NEET questions should also be referred to decide which of the topics you may leave out for NEET 2026.
  • Decide NEET exam-taking strategy: One must prepare NEET exam day plan and strategy well in advance. The NEET exam day strategy can be developed after regular practice. In the exam-taking strategy, candidates will have to finalise the order of attempting the sections, time management and revision. This will help them have a proper direction to follow on the exam day to experience a hassle-free exam-taking experience.

Commonly asked questions
Q:   Has NTA released NEET sample paper for 2026?
A:

The NEET sample paper by NTA for 2026 exam has not been released yet. However, the last 5 years NEET question paper PDFs are available. Candidates can practice through the previous years papers or NEET mock tests.

Q:   It is possible to crack NEET exam without coaching?
A:

I will not say, it is impossible. It is possible, but you have work very hard and must give your 200% effort to crack these competitive exams. In my opinion, it is better to take coaching for NEET exam. Coaching makes your exam preparation easier. Sometimes, if you get lots of doubt then you can get it cleared by your tutor who has got subject knowledge.

Students get individual attention at coaching institutes and they focus on learning and development of students as per their requirement. Coaching centers also teach you a lot of tips, tricks and time management that help you to crack NEET exam. But, you have to be careful in choosing a right and resourceful coaching center, as there are many fraud coaching centers that works for money and not for delivering knowledge to students.

Q:   How should I prepare for the NEET?
A:
First of all, do not take NEET preparation lightly as it is the most competitive national-level entrance exam. So be prepared for the efforts. Second, your interest has to be there in all three subjects. Every subject holds marks so it is significant for your rank. Now coming to the priority tips for the NEET preparation- NEET Biology- What anyone would say, first go for NCERT only, so would I. Just go for thorough study materials, every diagram, line, table, summary, and everything. 5-10 readings I would say and everything will be on tips. After that refer to coaching modules correctly and practice them. Practice questions from MTG Biology at your fingertips. NEET Chemistry NCERT is the key for Inorganic and organic especially. Revise inorganic on a daily basis, it is a scoring subject. Write down exceptions and reactions in a separate notebook. Do practice questions for organic and physical. Physics- Do refer to your coaching notes for theory and assigned modules for practice. Join the Mock test series in the last month. Solve NEET and JEE Main (for Physics and Chemistry), previous year test papers for better practice and try to go for the easiest approach for the questions. Be confident as you have recently appeared for boards so most of the concepts are fresh in mind.
