JEE Main 2025 Topper Interview Gaurika Rastogi (99.879 Percentile): Gaurika Rastogi secured an impressive 99.879 percentile in the JEE Main 2025 April session. She shared that she is now preparing for JEE Advanced 2025 to pursue Computer Science Engineering. Gaurika emphasised the importance of consistently revising lecture notes multiple times to build a strong conceptual foundation, alongside rigorous problem-solving practice. According to her, mock tests and previous years’ question papers play a crucial role in effective exam preparation. She also credited the NCERT textbooks as being immensely helpful in her journey.
Q: What was your reaction upon knowing the result?
Gaurika: I was expecting this result and was satisfied. I’m grateful to my parents and teachers for their support throughout my preparation. It is gratifying to know that all the hard work one puts into studies pays off in good results.
Q: Tell us something about yourself. Which board have you studied under? Which school did you study in?
Gaurika: I like to learn things & help people. I have done my schooling from Seth Anandram Jaipuria School, Ghaziabad. The school is affiliated with CBSE. The school and teachers have supported me in my studies for the boards and competitive exams.
Q: What is your score in JEE Main 2025?
Gaurika: I’ve secured 99.879 percentile in JEE Main 2025.
Q: Are you also appearing for any other exams?
Gaurika: Yes, I will be appearing for JEE Advanced 2025. Preparing for JEE Main has made me confident of cracking the advanced exam. I look forward to it.
Q: Which college and branch will you be opting for?
Gaurika: I will decide that after the JEE Advanced results. I aim to pursue Computer Science Engineering. I have always been passionate about technology.
Q: JEE Main was conducted as a computer-based test. What is your opinion about it? What preparation strategy did you adapt for the computer-based exam?
Gaurika: I prefer the CBT mode as there are no chances of marking one question’s answer in another’s. Moreover, we can look at a summary of our attempts in real time. I used to take mock tests on computer to adapt to it.
Q: When did you start your JEE Main preparation? Tell us something about your preparation strategy and daily routine for JEE Main?
Gaurika: I started my JEE Main preparation in class XI. I would revise the lecture notes multiple times to build a strong foundation, accompanied with problem practice. I make a to-do list daily and work accordingly as every day is different. This habit was very useful as it helped me streamline my preparation.
Q: How is the preparation for JEE Main different from boards?
Gaurika: JEE Main covers the syllabus of both class XI & XII Physics, Chemistry & Maths; meanwhile, Boards cover only class XII. JEE Main asks questions of higher difficulty than the Boards. Hence, one needs to allocate more time for JEE Main preparation, but that also prepares one quite well for the boards.
Q: Did you take coaching for JEE, and if yes from where? What are the benefits of coaching, according to you?
Gaurika: I took coaching. Regular classes, doubt-solving sessions, and tests, specifically designed for JEE, help aspirants make the best of their time. Having said that, I would stress that a quality school education is essential for preparing one for cracking JEE.
Q: Mock tests and sample papers – how extensively did you practise with the help of these? Do you think practising from the previous year's papers helped and how?
Gaurika: I believe mock tests & previous years’ papers play a crucial role in any exam’s preparation. They help us learn time management, avoid common mistakes, revisit weak topics, develop strategies and mentally prepare us for the exam.
Q: Are there any special books that you feel have helped with your JEE Main preparation?
Gaurika: NCERT Textbook, NCERT Exemplar & NCERT Lab Manual for Chemistry. In general, for having conceptual clarity, I would stick to class notes, solved examples, and discuss doubts with teachers. For practice, I used to attempt previous years’ questions.
Q: How did you de-stress yourself during the preparation? What are your hobbies? How often could you pursue them?
Gaurika: I usually go for a walk, or discuss problems with friends or teachers to de-stress myself. A good walk is a great stress buster and an exercise for quiet reflection.
Q: What advice would you give to future JEE Main aspirants?
Gaurika: A JEE aspirant has to work hard. That goes without saying. Beyond meticulous preparations, one should be optimistic, take care of one’s health, stay focused, and have patience.
