Manipur Board 12th Exam Pattern 2026: The Council of Higher Secondary Education, Manipur prescribes the Manipur 12th exam pattern 2026. Students can access the same information online on the COHSEM website at cohsem.nic.in. We have also updated the COHSEM 12th exam pattern 2026 Manipur on this page. Students must check the Manipur Board 12th exam pattern 2026 as it will give them a fair about how the exam paper will be in the final Manipur Board 12th exams 2026.

The Manipur Board releases the design of Class 12 question papers for each subject along with the Manipur Board 12th Syllabus. Students must go through the exam pattern for better preparation of the examinations. Students will be able to check the same on the official website of the state board. Given below are the subject-wise Manipur 12th examination patterns along with the scheme of examinations as well as the scheme of studies.

Last year, the design of question papers in a total of 31 subjects replaced the earlier design of question papers in these subjects.

Q:   What is the total duration of the Manipur 12th exam papers?
A: 

Before appearing for the final Manipur HSC exams, the students must practice the Manipur HSC sample papers as it gives the students a clear idea about the exam pattern. In each theory paper of Manipur 12th board exams, the students are given a total of 3 hours to write the paper. Apart from this, the students are also given 15 minutes to fill the OMR sheet and read question papers. 

Q:   What is the pattern for Manipur 12th Board exams?

Students preparing for the  Manipur 12th board exam must check the exam pattern as prescribed by the state education board. The board prescribe the Manipur HSC exam pattern in the form of sample papers. Subject-wise PDFs regarding the course syllabus and carriculum is also made avilable online. Each papers contain a total of 100 marks which also also include 30 marks in practical (if applicable). Students need to obtain atleast 33% marks in each paper to pass the exams.

Yes, in most of the papers in Manipur 12th exams, the students are given choice in questions. The students are given choice to write answer to any of two questions. The students are given choices in both short and long answers type question sections. This allow flexibility to the students to write answer to those question they feel more confident about.

The subjects for the study include:
English
Any one of the Modern Indian Languages: Assamese, Bengali, Hindi, Hmar, Kom, Manipuri, Mao La, Mizo, Nepali, Paite, Ruangmei, Tangkhul, Thadou Kuki, Vaiphei, Zou.
or Alternative English
Three Elective subjects from any one of the following three Groups
(i) Group -I
(Arts)
Any one of the Elective Languages (Assamese, Bengali, English, Hindi, Manipuri, Sanskrit), Economics, Education, Fine Arts, Geography, History, Home Science, Manipuri Dance, Mathematics, Music, Philosophy, Political Science, Psychology, Physical Health Education & Sports, Statistics, Sociology, Thang-Ta.
Students can also opt for an additional subject from this group as the fourth.
Elective Subject
(ii) Group-II
(Science)
Anthropology, Biology, Biotechnology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Engineering Drawing, Geology/ Geography, Home Science, Physics, Physical Health Education & Sports, Mathematics, Statistics, Thang-Ta. Students can also opt for an additional subject from this group as the fourth Elective Subject.
(iii) Group-III
(Commerce)
Accountancy, Business Studies, Computer Science/Economics/Mathematics/Thang-Ta. Students can also opt for an additional subject from this group as the fourth Elective Subject.

Vocational Stream

The subjects for the study include:
(1) English
(2) Any one of the Modern Indian Languages: Assamese, Bengali, Hindi, Hmar, Kom, Manipuri, Mizo, Nepali, Paite, Tangkhul, Thadou Kuki, Vaiphei, Zou
Or Alternative English
(3) Any one of the Vocational Trades (each Trade comprising of three Papers each in Class XI and Class XII): Agro Industries, Building Maintenance, Commercial Garment Designing and Making, Crop and Seed Production Technology, Food Preservation and Processing, Inland Fisheries, Journalism, Marketing and Salesmanship, Maintenance and Repair of Electrical Domestic Appliances, Medical Lab. Technician, Office Management/Office Secretaryship, Plantation Crops and Spices, Poultry Production, Sericulture, Textile Designing. Students can also opt for an additional subject not involving practical from the Arts/ Science/Commerce groups.
(4) “On-the-Job Training”, wherever prescribed is Compulsory. Vocational paper (s) having “On-the-Job Training” (OJT) will be of 30 marks in Theory paper and of 70 marks in Practical paper.

Medium of examinations: The medium of instructions and examinations for all subjects except language subjects, Music, Manipuri Dance and Thang-Ta shall be in English. For language subjects, the medium shall be the concerned language, for Music, the medium shall be Manipuri/Hindi/English, for Manipuri Dance, the medium shall be Manipuri/English and for Thang-Ta the medium shall be in Manipuri.

Q:   Do examiners deduct marks for exceeding the word limit in the language papers in Class 12 board exam?
A: 

No, examiners will not deduct marks for exceeding the word limit. Marks will be deducted for spelling mistakes in the Language Papers. Students are advised to be careful with the spellings, so that they won't loose any marks. They are also advised not to waste time by writing much more than the word limit. 

Q:   If a student fails in pre-board exam, does that mean one cannot appear in the Class 12 Board examination?
A: 

Even if a student fails in pre board exam, he or she can appear for the Class 12 board exam. Model exams help students to know how well they are prepared for the Board exam. A student cannot be detained from appearing in the Class 12 Board exam, if failed in pre board exam. Hence students need not worry, if they fail in pre board. They are advised to prepare well within the remaining time and appear for the board exam.

COHSEM 12th Pattern 2026: Scheme of Examinations

(i) The Council will conduct the Higher Secondary Examination in all subjects
(ii) The assessment records are subject to the scrutiny of the Council as and when it deems necessary

(c) In all subjects examined in Class XI and Higher Secondary Examination all theory papers, each carrying 100/70 marks shall be of three hours duration. For theory papers carrying maximum marks of 50 and 40/30, the time allotted shall be of 2(two) hours 30 minutes and two hours respectively. For practicals, the allotted time shall be of 3 (three) hours.

(d) In all subjects involving practical, there shall be a theory paper and a practical paper as mentioned in the syllabus

(e) An extra time of 15 (fifteen) minutes shall be given for reading of the questions in all theory papers. However, no extra time shall be given in case of Practical Examination

(f) A candidate who fails/is absent in the Higher Secondary Examination can appear at the succeeding examinations for a maximum of 4 (four) consecutive years
