All the students preparing for the UP Board Class 12 examinations must go through the preparation tips mentioned below to know the right approach while preparing for the examinations. The preparation tips come in handy when a student doesn't know when and how to start with the preparations considering the vast UP Board Class 12 Syllabus. One must also not forget to be thorough with the UP Board Class 12 exam pattern so as to get familiar with the marking scheme and the type of questions asked in the examination.

UP Board 12th Preparation for Arts

  1. Previous years' question papers: One of the most effective ways to assess your performance is to solve previous years’ question papers. The question paper pattern will help you get used to the degree of ease or toughness of the paper. It is an excellent way to get yourself thorough with the syllabus.
  2. Grammar practice: The English and other language papers will likely have grammar questions in the exam. Make a habit of making notes on different grammar topics covered in class which will help you recall the concept during the exam. Solve grammar questions from guidebooks and online resources.
  3. Formulae: Economics will have formulae to determine national income or employment rates or equations to use in the budget. Do not get confused and write down each formula clearly in your notes under the specified topic. Practice the sums in the textbook to help get a good understanding of the calculations.
  4. Map work: Geography papers, without a doubt, have questions that require you to label points on the political or physical maps. It is not enough to just look at the diagram and try to remember the labels. Instead, practise labelling points from the syllabus every weekend. This practice helps to not rely on rote learning.
  5. Adhere to the stipulated time: It is easy to get carried away while writing the Humanities paper as the questions are mostly essay type. Solve previous years’ question papers and record the time so that you understand how well you can manage it. Do not waste time unnecessarily by writing lengthy answers that are not related to the question.
  6. Organise your answers: Especially for lengthy answers, write a short and concise introduction to the concept. Begin the answer with points to justify the answer. Highlight the keywords by underlining them. Practise writing your answers so that you get into the habit of organising them better during the exam.
  7. Make a schedule and stick to it: This may seem difficult at the beginning, but once you get used to a schedule, it becomes easy for you to concentrate for long hours. The continuity helps you revise concepts and follow your mind maps without gaps. Take a break if you are unable to focus.
  8. Write and practise: Mugging up a text is easy. Yes, you can recall it 10 minutes later, but it does not help you score well during your finals. It is effective only for a short span of time. To retain what you have studied for the exam, understand the concept and explain it in your own words. Once you are able to internalise the concepts, writing the answers is easier.
  9. Each student has his/her own pace and method of learning. Practice at a pace that is both comfortable and effective for you. Finish the difficult portions first and keep the easier ones for the last.

After giving the board examinations, the next step must be to prepare for the entrance examinations. Some of the national-level entrance examinations include JEE Main for engineering, NEET for medicine, CLAT for law, among others. Students must begin with their preparations alongside their board preparation as most of the syllabus of the entrance examinations is equivalent to the board syllabus. Since the examinations are very competitive and difficult, students must strategise their study schedules properly.
